- ShirleyIt's one of those "bad drug" ambulance chaser firms. "If you've taken Paxil, Zoloft, etc... while pregnant and gave birth to a child with birth defects, you may have a claim..." It's a recording. They "say" if you press 3 your phone number is removed from further notifications. Guess we'll see.
- Linda T.| 1 replyDid some checking and this appears to be a new number for an active and well-known telemarketing company that used to do business under the much abused San José, CA number, "415-363-5536." If, at any time in the recent past, you asked for or sought out information concerning federal grant money available for online schools, then this is almost certainly why you are now receiving calls from this number.
"RIGHTS LEGL WCA" is the name for a telemarketing agency that solicits applications for grants from potential students for any number of online educational campuses. "University of Phoenix," "Kaplan (aka "DeVRY") Institute," or "American InterContinental University" seem to be some of the legitimate campuses that are represented by their company. As these are well-known, viable online campus communities, it would seem unlikely they would be involved in any genuine online scams, although the sudden change of phone number by "WCA" does seem somewhat problematic, not to mention that the name associated with the new number shown on caller IDs appears to have been altered oh-so-slightly, as well. (The number now shows as "RIGHTS LEGL WCA," instead of the "RIGHTS LEGAL WCA" that it used to read.)
If you want to remove your number from their "service," then follow the information provided you when you after dial the number. If that does not work, and you can identify just which university you (or a family member) were researching, I would contact their office of financial aid and level a complaint. One of the most valuable things these schools have going for them is their reputation, and so anything activity that may risk that is frowned upon, whenever possible.- Caller: RIGHTS LEGL WCA

- Michelle F.Just received a call on my cell phone from this number. I did not answer. We ALL have more important things to do I'm sure. I wish someone would get THAT messages to these folks.
- JaneKeep getting calls from here with no message. I have not been able to answer when they've called. Ugh.
- Elizabetta replies to Linda T.None of the schools you mentioned have a "good reputation". They are all for-profit colleges that have been under investigation and indictment for taking advantage of students with financial aid. These for-profit colleges charge at least 4 times the amount as a real college, and 100% of their tuition comes from grants and financial aid. Most colleges test students to make sure they will be able to do the coursework - these colleges "test" only to make sure potential students qualify for grants and student loans, then they give a hard sell telling students they'll have no money out of pocket - until they have to start paying back the loans, but they never talk about that part of the equation. These colleges have abysmal graduation rates, and most students pay so much to train for low paying jobs that they cannot pay back the loans - even if they're one of the few who actually graduate and can find a job. These schools account for 13% of students overall, but for way over 50% of student loan defaults.
