He claimed to be from Windows Support, but when I asked for his phone number so I could call back to verify it, he hung up.  Definately a scam.

Got the same scam claim they were from windows calling about my 87 mother in laws computer, (which she doesn't have). Hung up on them. Where is the FCC when they are needed, this type of abuse use to be regulated with fines.

The same thing happened to me just now. Called saying they were Windows support checking up on customers because a recent influx of calls regarding unwanted viruses being downloaded. It was a woman's voice. I told them i had a school computer being monitored at all times and she was quick to get off the phone with me. It is really annoying how at first she still insisted on giving me step by step instructions on how to "protect" my computer but once I told her it was monitored 24-7 she quickly got off the phone with me.

Same number called me.  Same story as above.  However when I asked how they got my name and number the phone went dead.

Just received a call. Same routine. She wanted me to hold down Windows Start key and letter "R" and then release them at the same time. While she talked, I Googled the phone number and arrived here. Excused myself for an important meeting and hung up.

Just got a call from this number also saying she was from Windows 8 support and that many computers are getting viruses so she could help me with this and walk me through the steps.  I told her no that this was a scam and not to call my number again. and hung up. They also called yesterday.

Rec'd call today, rang 3 X, didn't answer and they didn't call back.  NW WI doesn't like robo calls!  These a******s haven't a clue that we are on to them.  BNetter they focus on somwhere else!

Just got a call from this number, but I didn't answer. Thank heavens for caller ID & of course, no VM left. After reading these other comments about a windows support thing, it's ironic that I was on the phone a few hours ago with my cable company downloading an anti-virus program. Makes me wonder about the timing of this scam call.

I just got call @8:17 pm didn't ansr its from new York upstate but strange I was on with Lexmark about prob w printer and a wu talked I wonder if hes from hong kong be careful scammers prob using voice recrd

Windows doesn't call you...you call them.  Probably could be more convincing if they would use someone that doesn't sound like they just got off the boat from India or where ever the hell they are from...get a REAL job, pay your bills, work hard, and get a REAL life.

We all have to call them and ask for Huey,duey or Luey, or even Moe Larry or Curly, after about a thousand times, I think it will stop.

This is another of the endless 'Windows Security' scams.  They are foreign criminals trying to steal from you.
About all you can do is ignore them or try to string them along for entertainment (which can be fun if you have the time).
You cannot call them back - the phone number is fake - they are calling from India (or elsewhere) via the internet.
The US agencies such as 'Do Not Call', FCC, police, etc. cannot touch them, and the State Department has more important things to worry about.  The phone companies make a tiny amount on the calls and even more on our attempts to call them back, so they don't try to block them.  India enjoys the income from their scam industry and lets it continue.
I wish we could have the NSA track their location and give it to the CIA drone center.

A few years ago, they called me every other week for a few weeks, truly a pain in the rear. Pretended to listen to them and then said I had to call them back and asked for a number to call. Naturally, they always hung up after that, but sometimes I just like giving it back to them, if I have the time.

Just missed one on my phone, (caller ID) showed the number, shame no message. Guess they will call me again......can't wait. I agree, government agencies are too busy dealing with other issues that take priority.

received a phone call   before  i even  read this  and when i told them  i dont  deal with anyone  concerning my computer  that i did not solicite  they  hung up on me.   LOL     jerks.
