Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - rickMessage stated they were the IRS and were filing a lawsuit. Dont reply!!!! SCAM
- Bubba Bob| 1 replyAn hour or so ago, I got the same sort of call as all of the other posters. Something about the IRS, lawsuits, etc. Their phone no. was 315-215-3455. A half hour later, I got a similar call that threatened me with the same IRS lawsuit. But, the 2nd call came from a different number -- 360-718-9117. For what it's worth, and this may just be my own paranoia, but as a retired Fed I rec'd an email earlier this week from Office of Personnel Mgmt., in which I was offered free credit monitoring for 18 months because the personnel records for millions of past & present federal employees have been hacked. Not sure if the bogus calls from 'IRS' today are connected to the hacking or not. Just throwing it out there for everyone to consider - especially if you're a current or former Federal employee.
- Jerry replies to Tamianth| 1 replyWill not do any good to report these to the IRS or any other agency. The IRS has tripled their Agents since the Obama care took affect, but they still don't have the time to track down these Scum bags. The other agents don't care either. The best thing you can do when these Scum bags call is first look at the ID Caller if you have ID caller. If it says Unavailable, Blank or anything other that a Good company or person's name, Don't answer And/or the phone number is a long distance (toll paid) line, Hang up.
- Vincent GrayThis is a typical phone scam threatening the victim with financial hardship with the IRS if they do not pay a lawsuit fee.
The phone number the call came from is: +1 (315) 215-3455 NY, USA.
It was a prerecorded message.- Caller: IRS
- Jstarusa replies to BleuBelieve me IRS will first send you a letter stating what the tax is all about. And the if you do not comply they will take money straight out of your checking account. They do NOT call up and ask for money, at least they haven't in this form of communication. When in doubt call the local IRS office and inquire about the phone call.
- JAMESReceived call about IRS and lawsuits. Report number to your cell phone company. If your phone doesn't have a filter to block unwanted calls get AVAST security on your phone. Basic svc is free. This company is great and deserves a second look for all your devices to include your computers.
- DianeAtlanta1The First call I received was a recorded message from a women stating that this was the IRS and that a warrant had been issued in my name and to please contact them at 315-218-3455. That this was the Internal Revenue Service. I called the number back a man answered with a heavy accent he stated his name as Martin Gary, he identified himself as a IRS Agent and that the IRS had issued a warrant in my exact name and address city state and social security number. He could identify my tax records and also to some extent identify what I paid in some older tax years back to 2008 he stated that from 2009 to 20012 I had miscalculated my taxes and owed them $ 1,995.00 and this needed to be paid immediately. I told him their was no way this was right and that my taxes were corrected. He told me he would now process a warrant for my arrest if I did not pay. I asked him his badge number he state his ID # as 1123 I ask him the reference number on the document said it was too late. I needed to send in the money, I then told him to go F-off and immediately contacted the fraud department within IRS, called my bank and all my credit cards. As you know the IRS was hacked and millions of files were stolen and it was now quite apparent to me this idiot has all of my information. I also notified my mortgage company and all credit B. too. Wake up caller at 315-218-3455 you don't know me that well, I guess you didn't read where it stated my occupation for all those years you were questioning Federal Agent....US Department of Justice
