- Marquia| 21 repliesThese people are scammers Keith & his colleagues. They stole money from my account for an illegitimate loan. I began to ignore their calls & months later they called back pretending to be a law firm to get more
- Jessica Langham replies to MarquiaI need more information because these people just called me saying they are a law firm and are sueing me for a payday loan I got 3 years ago and said they will be calling me tommorow morning with update with court place and time
- Jessica Langham replies to Marquia| 6 repliesPlease email me at [removed]@yahoo.com. I am freaking out because these people from this number is saying they are sueing me for 5000.00 dollars. So this is a scam?

- Badge714 replies to Jessica Langham| 4 repliesPlacing your email address on an open forum was unwise. But lets get to your situation. (1) Did you take out a payday loan 3 years ago? (2) Have you asked them to send you proof of debt in writing, by US Mail? Not fax, text, or email, but US Mail. The letter should have the company address and phone number at the top. It should state who the loan was originally with, for how much, and how much it is now. Many times they will state a lower amount as well, that they are willing to settle for. The letter must also be signed. (3) Law suites in the US are a matter of public record. Call your City, or State court office, & ask the Court officer if there are any open, pending, cases against you. I would like to point out to you that there is a very strong chance that you were called by foreign criminals who are trying to extort money from Americans, on fake loans. Admit to nothing, ask for proof.
- Jessica replies to Badge714| 1 replyThank you for responding.. my email address is fine because its a extra one I use with no personal info on it and not main email. No they didn't ask for money yet they said they will call me in the morning regarding my case. I know it's a scam now due to all the findings with this particular number and I have already reported them to the us fraud department..
- jessica replies to Badge714Oh also they tried saying they sent all documents to email which is wrong. No one gets court documents through email. I'm sure they will try tommorow morning to get information from me to scam me.
- ChristyI get constanr calls from this number.Its always a recording.They say to have my lawyer call them.And they are foreign..They call my house and celll phone.
- JENNThese people are annoying! They have called my employment twice telling me I have a lawsuit against me and asked if I had a lawyer. If I did not they would take my debit card over the phone!! I told the guy I was reporting him and to never call my employment again!!
- StephanieSCAM! Not legitimate. I have had several calls. I even called my local sheriffs department and courthouse. No such thing in my name. I called number back and they could not give any specifics other than that I should pay them $5000 or they wished me luck on what was about to "befall" me. No debt collector should make threats. It is a scam.
- Caller: Did not give
- Call type: Debt collector
- Elizabeth Arnold replies to Jessica LanghamYes honey, this is definitely a scam. They have called me too saying that they were going to put me in jail if I didn't pay off a loan that I never even got
- Elizabeth| 1 replyOh god no. They got me. They called back after I paid, saying they found another account I owed for twice the amount of the first one and I got really suspicious. I feel really really terrible, I'm usually really skeptical, but the threats were so out of left field and intimidating. Ahhh...
- Caller: PayDay Legal Something...
- Call type: Debt collector
- lsthis is a scam have called me on three different occasions. don't waste your time worrying about them
- JenniferI called them back and told them I reported them to the attorney general and before he can speak I hung up. Sorry scam artists, I know my bills and I have no debts so suck it!
- Caller: Kevin Hart and Associates
- JenniferI was a debt collector for a law firm. They cannot threaten you, and they have to send you correspondence and proof of debt. Also they have to send you a letter to settle the debt. Do not fall for this, I just don't know how they get away with doing this to people.
- Caller: Kevin Hart
- janet flowersGot a call from this number, 315 282 5848........told me I had a law suite and was to appear in court in the morning over a pay day loan I have never even had. I asked him to read to me the info he had and what court I was to appear at. He puts me on hold and leaves me there. I called back and he started from the beginning as if he didn't know me......is he a broken record or Pete the repeat!!!!!! Told me the exact same things I'm reading on the net.....yes a scam for sure!!!!! Everyone please beware.
- janet flowers replies to Jessica LanghamYes this is a scam. Got the same call yesterday over a payday loan I have never even had. I knew right off and started messing with the guy to the point that he was totally confused and thru off guard. He hung up on me. I called back and he starts his speak again like he was a robot or something. Don't be worried......its a scam.
- Concerned| 1 replyI received a call from 315-282-5848 saying that I needed to have my "retained attorney call them back now" and "if I don't return their call immediately they wish me good luck". Now this is first off, against any collection rule; as I work in AR.
I have no outstanding loans, bills, or other debts and have no records against me.
This is a fraudulent call!!! - Alfalfa replies to ConcernedThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
