SCAM!!! DO NOT RENT!!! Used names Benny and Christa Martinez. Even talked to them on phone font speak English well! Wired money to clearfield, Utah. Phone shows from New York!!! Very convincing, had contract, confirmed, did everything you would think of, except not have a condo to rent!!! Please do not rent from them, my lesson stay awy from craigslist.

I also wanted to rent an apartment from them. Found them on Craigslist - a very nice apartment in NY for a good price. After a while I got curios although everything sounded nice. I found this article and I had luck. Didn't wire the money and cancelled all - no response. This is definitely Scam!!

I just saw your posting.  Benny and Christa Martinez are posting a condo on Craigslist in Ocean City, MD.  I was just getting ready to wire them the money when I had a hunch to check on line.  How do you know this is a scam?  If so, I am so grateful to you for alerting all of us who are trusting souls.  I can't afford to lose that money!  Please reply.

I got scammed too.  STAY AWAY!!  At least I found out before I drove down.  When I spoke to the office person at the condo, she told me that 3 other families just showed up and that's when they found out they were scammed.

They got me too. Ocean City Police claim they can't do anything because the crime wasn't actually committed in Ocean City. Unbelievable how these people can continue to get away with these scams and we can't get anyone to do anything about it. I even told the police I found similar postings on craigslist today and they still say there's nothing they can do.

Same here this time he used the number 315 370 7357 and said his name was Jim Strickland. he was renting an ocean city condo. I believe he is Muslim. I heard him speaking arabic to someone after he thought the phone was hung up.... BEWARE

Never got a phone call but am emailing right now with someone named "Jim Strickland" jimstrickland04@att.net.  Insisting on Western Union payment for a place in Dana Point, CA that I found on Craigslist.  Think I'm going to mess with him a bit.  :)

We just got duped by "Jim Strickland" as well.  We knew the condo sounded too good to be true but we were searching for something for such a long time we wanted to believe it.  We consider ourselves to be pretty smart AND cautious, he provided his "management license" and everything, then emailed this morning asking for me to help another renter pay via western union.  Emailed him politely to say that I can't help but would like to cancel my reservation.  I'm sure I'll never hear from him again.  jimstrickland04@att.net  

Scam scam scam, never pay anyone western union, EVER.  I've learned my lesson.
