Call from a "Dennis Grey" obviously attempting to suppress a foreign accent saying ignoring the call will result in charges from a federal magistrate regarding matters w/ the Treasury department, to call him back. Caller ID reads 210-526-6628, but he says to call him back at 316-272-0060. I'll wait for the official written correspondence, to be properly served, or my door being broken down in a raid, thanks, Dennis.

Got a call from scammer today leaving this # saying they are from the US Treasury.  I tried calling back but since i work for the FEDS the call was rejected.  Called back on my cell and they accepted the call. Gave them a piece of my mind.  I have notified the appropriate authorities to catch these criminals.

    IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.

Official IRS Government site detailing this scam and providing links to report it:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam

If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS.  Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):

Same as above. Obviously a phoney. The IRS contacts you by mail. They don't call and threaten you.
I read about this scam in one of the AARP magazines. Report it to the FCC.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Got the exact same call from "Dennis Gray" saying to call back at 316-272-0060 saying I was committing a Federal criminal offense if I did not call this number back and he was calling on behalf of the US Treasury.  He said I would have to appear before a magistrate judge or grand jury and that they were there to help me.

just got call from "Dennis Grey" from IRS threatening legal action if I do not call him right away.
even tho the machine picked up message, he must have heard some noise (not from my end) and started "yelling" stating that he knew I was home so pick up the phone. I doubt that is the way IRS agents speak/leave messages for people.
Being a retired government employee, all contact with the public is ALWAYS by mail and call back numbers are always toll free
another scammer.  he was called before but not from 316-272-0060 a different number rom 347 area code, but I deleted that number.   what's the point of being on the national do not call registry if these scammers can constantly call, even up to 8:57 PM??

Caller posing as US Treasury, said his name was Dennis Gray.  Called my work number and left message after hours.  Did not identify me by name or speak to the "issue".  Obvious scam as if this was legit I would have received something in writing with the proper credentials.  The caller had an apparent accent also - not that it invalidates a legit call for the person to have an accent, but it does support the scam idea of coming from another country.  I read below India and/or Pakistan as potentials places of origin.

Same message all others have reported.  Guy trying to hide an accent, stating ignoring the call would lead to serious issues.  First half of message didn't record...but the number he said to call him back on was 316-272-0060.  I typically NEVER answer my home phone as it is 100% of the time scammers or wrong numbers, when I do answer it, I am usually pretty mean to the callers, esp after 9:00 pm at night.   This one was a total scam.
