Just got a phone call from these people. They said a preliminary report was filed against me. CRA they say is not an acronymn. Who are they?

Same deal, I rec'd a call they asked me to hold on as they were going to transfer me and i asked to who and for what and they would not answer. WTF! So i hung up. What is CRA?

Woman on the phone said she had some paperwork that I had filed with her company, CR assoc. I waited on the phone while she tried to transfer me. Would not tell me anything about her company. She only said she was a secretary. She gave me a call back number, 866-596-9135, but could not give me an email address. Also gave me a case number.

Just got a call from these people saying I owed USBank money, and if I didn't pay then they were turning it over to the IRS.  When I said I didn't know what he was talking about, he then continued to read my credit report to me as if I didn't know what was there.  But oddly, that wasn't.  After I said I didn't know, he started getting really rude with me and telling me that I needed to take care of my debt before going out and getting new.  What can you do about people like this?  I called back to tell him to send me a copy of what it was, but all I got was music.

I received a call from this company about an hour ago and they wouldn't disclose who they were.  They just kept asking me if I was so and so, when I refused to verify my name he got very upset and started screaming at me that he was going to file a 1099C against me.  After calling the number back and holding through all the music, I realized they were calling about a 10 year debt that is no longer on my credit report.  The supervisor insisted that I had to pay up even though it was no longer on my credit report.  Does anyone know the fax number?  Would like to send them a copy of my complaint to the attorney general.

I must have made them really mad because he said he was going to report me to the IRS. They were trying to collect a paid debit from a car loan co. no longer in buissness from me.

They call from many different toll free and reg numbers.   Many different area codes.  Usually call daily or every other day. Once they call from a new number, I add that number to my phone address book and turn off the ringer for that profile.    They are crooks, and they do not have a leg to stand on. Very old debt that is past the statue of limitations and don't give them any of your information.

Just got a call from this number on my answering machine,  said they were from cra, and left a contact number for my son to call them back.  He is a grown man and does not even live in my state for the last 4 years.  He does have debts, but they are very old.  A womans' voice pleaded for me to call them back today, it was urgent.  Don't they by law have to say they are debt collectors?  They are on my ignore list now.

This company called my ill grandmother and told them if she did not pay $10k immediately that a warrant would be issued for my arrest.  They almost got her to pay until she called me in tears to tell me she was going to take care of it.  I didn't owe anyone $10k, and they would have robbed her blind had she not called me.  They also called several other family members and treatened the same.  Its crazy.  They should be shut down!  That is blantant ABUSE AND EXTORTION!

just got a call from them, and waited for the person to come to the phone.  a very rude gentleman got on the line and started asking to verify my name and last four of social, then started talking about a cc debt from 9 years ago.  said they were filing a 1099-C or something with the IRS.  then we got disconnected, i tried calling back but nobody answers.  eh.  they can suck it.

Please file a complaint with the FTC.  Someone posted the link above.  Once the FTC sees a pattern they will open an investigation so that means we should all file complaints against CRA.

And your State Attorney General - they will act long before FTC does..

You can also sue them yourself for FDCPA violations...
