- Stephanie a lowryAllegations have been made against me
- StephanieSomeone made allegations against someone, told them multiple times it's the wrong number
- MJDCalled our business and it was a recording. Hung up without listening to it, so not sure what the scam is. Nothing on CID except the number.
- Jay JayReceived a phone call from this number out of Iowa saying I owed a payday loan from years and years ago. The caller stated that he wasn't an attorney, he was just the messenger and their office was representing a company called JD Marketing. However, while on the phone with him I got another call from a number out of Baton Rouge. Caller couldn't give me the name of the loan company but expected me to set up a payment arrangement for $900 (yeah right). Stated that the loan company or the Marketing company will take me to court if I didn't comply. Well....see you in court...
- Caller: JD Marketing representative
- Call type: Debt collector
- Joanna| 1 replySame as the others... a message saying that there are allegations against me and that I needed to call them for mediation. No business name given.. just some account number. Then the robot sped through the phone number so fast that I had to listen to the recording twice to get the number. The number on my caller ID shows some crazy number that starts with a V, though. The "mediation" scammers are back.
- Alfalfa replies to JoannaThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- Silver replies to JaneThese scum called and threatened to take my wife to court if she didn't pay up over some fictitious debt of her's......I never said a word and figured they couId bring it on. I never said a word about the fact that she's been dead for years.
- LATONYA| 3 repliesThey keep calling and pressuring me and giving me years of 2011 & 2012 with my job and my banking institution. I wasn't even working at my job in 2011 nor was I with my bank then. I didn't get a loan until 2014 which was paid. They are calling from this number AND 682-219-0538. Same African American woman. Even Evelyn Dixon came on the line as her superior. I told them to give me the name and the amount from the original lender and they refuse, stating after I make the arrangement they will send me the information. So I'm supposed to make an arrangement on a debt that I don't know if I owe? I told them I'll see them in court.

- Carlos replies to LATONYAI also was called twice this week which includes today from 319-209-5883 and when I talked to someone they also gave me her number 682-219-0538 and her name is Ashley Owens and she represents Vince Enterprises. I asked her from which creditor and she said Cash Advance Loans and that I owed 870.00 and I told her it was 640.00 and she said the reason for the 870.00 is for the interest on it. That's BS cause I've never heard interest being charged on a loan that went to a debt collector! In fact I'm not sure I owe them at all so I'm going to follow Alfalfa's advice and ask them some serious questions to see if they are real or just scamming me.
- MichelleThese people are fake. She wouldn't give me a name or address of there company and then got smart with me. I called the number back and the same person answered and said poor retrieval how may I help you. You know there fake when you call back and get the same person. I told her that her company was fake and that I will be reporting them to the FTC. They won't call back.

- Simone replies to LATONYA| 1 replyI also received the same call stating that I owed not one but two payday loans, I told the lady that I have never taken out a payday loan, she also had my banking information and the last four of my social security number! This woman called herself Mrs. Caldwell, I asked her for proof of such loans and she stated that they were just going to summons me to court and I could see the paperwork then.
These people have been calling me for over a year now, and they continue to call all my family members requesting my phone number and location even though they have my phone number and continue to call me!!
How do I make this stop?? - AndrewI just received this call and answered it since I was waiting for a call back from someone else. They said that there were allegations regarding a payday loan I took out in 2012. I have never taken out a payday loan and when I said they needed to send me something in writing she became abusive and said they would let a judge decide and they would have my wages garnished. I told her that by law they needed to provide me with copies of anything I signed and she said that she didn't have to do that and they would see me in court. Blocked.
- Kat replies to SimoneFirst, let your family all know this is a scam and to not speak to them when they call. Second, try blocking the number. Third, put a watch on your personal information.
- Nickelle CooperThis number 309 209 5833 has called me twice stating I owe for a payday loan from 2008 I never applied for any type of loan
