called here ....no one talked. the name on the caller id said "wielenberg, van" called back the answering machine on the other end said if I was a telemarketer, to take them off my list!!  then their phone kept ringing and no one ever answered

Got this call 1 hour ago.  Male with very heavy accent...can't remember name...hard to pronounce, foreign.  Said he was with Microsoft and wanted to solve a problem that existed with my computer.  Asked if I had computer on at the time.  I hung up.  Caller ID was Wielenberg, Van

That name and address is probably NOT where the call is coming from. Phone numbers and caller ID info can be faked. When you call the number back (Which you should never do) in this case, you are probably harassing an innocent bystander and you could get yourself into trouble. The point is, don't ever return calls from suspicious numbers.

Thanks to everyone for the heads up on this creep--I got a call from "Van Weilenberg" too but I punched it in and these reports came up so I didn't answer.   I've blocked the caller--thank you 800 Notes reviewers!!!!!

See my reply to Debra. You are probably harassing an innocent person whose number has been faked on your caller ID. Don't call back these spammers. It's the only way to stop them, other than getting a call blocker, which everyone should have by now.

i keep getting calls from 320-573-6979. i called it back and it says they don't accept calls from telemarketers. Push 1 if not a telemarketer. So I pushed 1 and the phone rand and no one ever aswered. It has to be a scam......

This is a scam to get access to your computer.

Received a call from this number today. Name was Vanessa Bowen but it was a man with a thick accent, probably middle eastern or a bit farther east..  I listened for quite a while as he guided me though the process of verifying that some of my Microsoft services were stopped or disabled.  He said he was going to help me fix that.  Actually, I had disabled the services to reduce the CPU load.  He gave me a web address to "run" in the RUN command instead of through a web browser.  No doubt that this would have enabled him to take control of my computer.  Instead of running the command I told him that my antivirus software had blocked it. So, he gave me another website.  I told him the same thing.  He started to give me a third website.  That's when I hung up.  He called back!!  Twice!

called at 4:30pm. Caller id "12022040484". That looked like a phone number so I looked it up on 800 Notes and sure enough it is a scammer trying to pull the Microsoft scam. So they are linked to the same spammer.
