Number used in craigslist scam

Also received this number in a Craiglist reply. Scam

Responded to my ad on Craigslist. Definitely a scam. Who buys $1200 item without seeing it.

Wishes to purchase $3000 dollar dinning room suite "quote" for a surprise. Site unseen via paypal

Thanks for the response, My name is Rick Smith. I am buying this as a surprise to someone very dear to me and I want to keep it that way(AS A SURPRISE) after delivery day. I work with Turner Construction,we are currently working at a very rural area which makes it very hard for me to make phone calls due to bad network reception here but you can always text me on (321) 200- 1838. I will not be able to view it but I have a Mover who will come for the pickup so please get back to me with more pics and also I will be making the payment via PayPal as that is the only payment option I can access from here I hope you understand.I have some questions for you;

I got the exact same email response. He also told me that he worked for Turner Construction and was in a remote area in Connecticut. He was having a mover come to my house as soon as I gave my Paypal number  I did not give the info but he knows my street name and town. ( not house number). I asked him in the email if this was a Florida number and he said no, Connecticut. Should I report this since he knows my town?

My experience was similar to the other reports.  This person called himself Rick Smith with Turner Construction working in a remote area and he wanted to purchase furniture site unseen.  Here's how the scam went, we agreed on a price and that we would use PayPal.  Then I got an email from Paypal, which was bogus stating that Rick Smith deposited $980 more than our agreed price, but I was to go to western union and wire that extra $980 to a mover in Missouri.  But, the total funds wouldn't transfer into my paypal account until I provided a western union receipt that I wired the money.  Needless to say, the scam was clear at that point.

Exact same as above, my email has my full name do I need to be concerned? I did not reply after the above email was sent to me. I'm now extremely nervous!

He wouldn't talk in the phone but said he didn't want to see it in person and would ONLY use pay pal.

This was the response after the first contact asking if still available. He also asked for Paypal account info. I have 2 Items for sale and he hasn't even told me which one he wants. He presents himself as Richard Brown and Rick Smith. Hmmm?

Just got the same email.  Glad i had the forethought to look into the phone number and came upon this information.  Thanks to all for the info

Received the same message.  Looked fishy.  How many people are falling for the scam?

I got the same as the rest of you, so I replied with this: Take the time and check out your phone number here: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-321-200-1838 , the first email on Craiglist came from a Christina Bertilone, more than likely fake too.

I have had same experience and exact lengthy email about a surprise, construction and paypal.  I'm in VA so you know this person gets around.  Be careful.

I JUST RECEIVED THE SAME MESSAGE! Scary!!!!

I just got a reply to my CL posting in Philadelphia from a "Christina Bertilone" from a gmail account that held another name (I'm not going to copy that address here to shield the true owner).  Because of the mis-matche between the quoted name and email name I decided to search - I'm glad I did!  Thanks to the rest of you for posting.
