- Call type: Debt collector
- chris| 1 replyi got a call from them today, they said they were from litigation services. Never heard of them before, she had a strong accent and it was very hard to hear her. I believe she was calling from the Philippines with a mask outbound caller ID to make it look like she was calling from LA. She said i have a legal obligation and I need to call back. They had the last 4 of my social and also my first and last name.
I am assuming that when i applied for pay day loans some years ago. The companys sold my information and these people are trying to scam me out of it. - K| 1 replyI received a phone call from this number. They have called 4 days in a row so far. When I answered the hung up. They have left 3 voice mails saying they need to speak to me about fraud. The voice sounds muffled. I'm sure it is a scam. They used a last name that I no longer use.
- TJ replies to KI received the same call an used a last name I have not go by in many years
- AnnA muffled caller is calling me and my parents from litigation stating i owe them money and they are going to send it to court if I do not respond and set up a payment plan to pay them with my account information. They did not even have my current information and address.
- Caller: from Litigation
- Robert| 3 repliesWe have been getting calls asking about an overdraft account that we know was paid in full back in 2010. The man's name is Mike Osmond (probably not real). His number is 323-300-5792 ext 223. The address for business he gave me is 224 E 11th St. Los Angelas CA 90015 and is a Flex Space in the LA Fashion district. It was very noisy when he called and I was having trouble hearing him.
My hunch is that this is a scam. No information is provided on them with the BBB and from this page it looks like they are a very new company starting up in March 2015. Everyone please do your best to research and post information on the company here to help us sort out if it is a legit collection agency or not.- Caller: Litigation Services

- Tony R replies to Robert| 1 replyyea, I got a call from these guys about an overdraft account I had years ago I paid and they remove this off my credit report and check system. I thought they were a scam but called US Bank apparently they sold the debt to several companies before it got these folks, but you are correct you got be careful when dealing with collection agencies.
- summer replies to Tony RIf your debt was paid and cleared there would be no account to sell. This doesn't make any since.
- bdk6000| 1 replyThey are using a masked phone service called bandwidth.com
I would suggest emailing this company and let them know that scammers are using their service to break the law. They are violating debt collection laws by refusing to validate debts, making threats, and giving out a fake address.
Email their phone provider at: info@bandwidth.com
Hopefully they will look into it and shut down their phone system.- Caller: Litigation Services
- Call type: Debt collector
- bdk6000 replies to bdk6000I would actually email customercare@phonebooth.com
The parent company is bandwidth.com but they are actually using phonebooth.com as their phone service. - Anonymous| 1 replyThey called me as well. I can't even pronounce what they thought my name was and they used my first name as my last name. Claimed I had an account with US Bank that I owed money to, I've never had an account with us bank. They tried to scare me into paying them a false debt my threatening me with a law suit.
- Slim replies to AnonymousIf you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Katelyn WCalled me about debt I owe. I owe the company listed (a bank) and threatening me with court and demanding pymt same day. Very rude and unprofessional. Then called back after 20 mins and said "oh I talked to you already" and then hung up on me. It's a scam ..my debt is less than $100...

A rather confusing phone call (given the background noise of at least three other people shouting/arguing with ghetto panache, phone drop-outs) but the gist was yet another claim to be calling to collect on an old debt to Wells Fargo bank, without any verification of the legitimacy of the alleged debt 'mediation' agency. I have recently had a pre-paid Wells Fargo debit cart account which I'd filed a complaint about at the [U.S. government] Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and at first I thought THAT was what they were calling about--as I'd never received any satisfactory outcome of complaint filed with them. When I pointed out I've received no postal notice of their claim, the woman said 'Oh, no, we don't send out letters, we only negotiate on behalf of the bank'. She then offered to recite my account number to me, which I certainly don't need to be told, and is dubiously even legal for THEM to disclose to someone on the phone without any verification of whom they're really talking to. {i.e. anyone they call who simply says 'I am he/she' can obtain someone else's account number of from this agency? I don't think so. =) When I finally realized that the debt they claim I owe is essentially a manufactured non-issue of a bank that no longer exists either (which Wells Fargo bought out), and would've been beyond the statute of limitations anyway... I asked for a letter verifying their authority to even question my financial history and before I could even finish my sentence, I was rudely threatened with a subpena-
-again, THREE flagrant violations of Federal Trade Commission regulations inside a minute+a-half.
I simply chuckled and said, 'Okay, you do what you gotta do...', she responded, "Oh, I will."
I said "See ya!"+ hung up.
Therefore the only sensible conclusion is, 'warrant'/'subpena' or no ... this is the latest collections-fraud tactic, and they can 'intermediate' THIS while attempting to draw blood from stone for themselves too.

- J. Spaid replies to RobertAs you were already scoping out information from the Better Business Bureau, 'Robert',
they have a page which spells out the collections calls 'do's+don'ts'...
= knowing that makes it quite clear whether such callers are legitimate or not-
+usually within the 1st 30 seconds of their accosting you by phone.
It's a far more wise investment of your time to simply know your credit consumer rights than letting anyone 'inspire' you to play d.i.y. investigator, attempting to track them down. If they AREN'T operating legally, even our law-enforcement agencies may NOT be able to locate them. Please don't let tele-fraud 'terrorists' win by prompting you to feel obliged to waste any more of your time than they already have, either. These extortionists have become rampant ever since the 2008 Wall St. banking collapse. They are no more than scavengers having their field-days in the chaotic aftermath of collections carnage. Don't sweat it.
'The more you know.' ; ) - Missie| 1 replySeven calls in one day. Each time they called, they asked for a new person's name. My husband and I decided to play along and let them "be ignorant and scream in the phone" which was pretty humerus only to tell them off and then block the number.
Understand the rules about debt collection, they are required to send you something in mail. Another thing, "Litigation Services" fraud has been around for several years now and all they do is change telephone numbers...but the players are all the same. I have been an investigator for several years and chuckle at their attempt because if they really KNEW who they were calling....they would certainly give up before they even waste their worthless breath.
I have decided that this is a failed attempt at trying to teach people manners with anger management classes.....the more questions you ask...the more they will cuss and the more you will understand - this is clearly a scam....but get a good laugh at their worthless attempts.- Caller: Litigations Services Scam
- J. Spaid replies to MissieObviously their not all playing with a 'full deck', but your story of several calls to several different people ...and all to the phone number of a professional investigator is especially ironically amusing, 'Missie'. Yet it should be no less obvious that the people who've made a 'profession' of con-artistry, extortion fraud by civil-'terrorism' and blackmail for themselves ARE NECESSARILY socio-paths by any+all standardized psychological definitions--and THAT should go without saying nor even having to 'think' about.
Otherwise, on point of 'understanding the rules', actually collection agencies AREN'T necessarily required to notify any direct collections attempts in advance by mail--however they ARE legally required to provide proof of their claim to any debt IF so requested by any alleged debtor.
On the other outta-hand, also should be axiomatic that NO ONE can 'teach' these case-hardened, certifiably 'mentally disabled' criminals anything in the course of a phone conversation, however otherwise entertained you may be.
Thanks for your post.

-yet another one today.
This time a family member unwittingly answered and caller identified herself as 'Mary Owens' {whell don't let it be said they don't have a sardonic sense of humor}. So all of their aliases are using the initials, 'M.O.'?
=These people are apparently THAT [***]-sure the F.B.I. isn't going to catch up with them and who only knows, it just may be they're operating out of Mexico!
I simply told the family member who picked up this one, "Don't answer unless you want a good laugh on their dime?"

- L.S. South CarolinaThey called and left a message, saying they were litigation services and I needed to call them back.
A rather confusing phone call when I called them back, (given the background noise of at least three other people shouting/arguing with ghetto panache, phone drop-outs) but the gist was yet another claim to be calling to collect on an old debt and they said they are filling a complaint against me, from a debt 10 years ago. They did this last year about this time as well. They couldn't give any information other than the debtors name.
