Verizon Wireless. It might be nice if these guys sent an email about my past-due bill before trying to call from an unknown number that I don't recognize. Just a thought.

Same here re Verizon.  They used to send texts, now they don't.

In any event pay by calling 611.  The LA number is not Verizon but a third party collection outfit.  I bet that each time you pay these guys instead you get a black mark at Verizon.

Got this call from Verizon this a.m. - nothing on caller id but the phone number.  Never gotten this call before from this number or any other

LA number is from Verizon wireless letting me know there is a change to my account and that I need to contact them ASAP.  Received a related text message as well right after the phone call.

Just got off the phone with Verizon, we reported this number. It is a fraudulent number not associated with Verizon!

I am a former Verizon customer but do not have an account with them currently. I received a call today from (323) 404-9261. I let it go to voicemail, and there was an automated recording saying this was the "Verizon Wireless Message Retrieval System", and for me to call (800) 249-2462 for a message about "my account".

I then called the real Verizon Customer Service Number listed on their website, (800) 922-0204, and they confirmed that this call was fraudulent and this number is not associated with Verizon Wireless. They said they have been getting lots of similar reports lately.

This is not a Verizon number. The number wanted a random amount if money to reconnect my phone, a phone I was using that was not disconnected. If a hacker is going to go thru all that trouble to get into the Verizon system and set up a scam they should go thru the accounts and not call accounts that are not due or paid ahead. Kinda gives it away!

This number has called my son and my numbers saying it was Verizon...I called Verizon they said it is not them!

Recieved a text saying to call this # and a phone call from it as well.

Received a call, let it go to VM. Automated system wanting to inform me of changes to my account and asking me to call back 18002492462

This number called my home phone within minutes of responding to a craigslist ad via email.  There was not a phone number to call them in the ad.  No voicemail was left from the call.

I just received that call and got the voice mail and information as the others

Fraudulent call from "Verizon". Report it to Verizon also.

The call from 323-404-9261 is a LEGITIMATE phone call from Verizon Wireless or it's debt collection agency. They also send a text message. If you haven't paid your bill or owe money on an old account, they want you to pay. Those who keep saying that it is a scam probably owe Verizon Wireless. How would a random scam artist know that you are past due on your Verizon Wireless bill? Seriously!!! Call Verizon's FINANCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT to verify and don't just speak to a regular customer service rep because half the time they don't know what they are talking about.

Lou, I received a call from this number, which I did not answer either.  I do not even have a Verizon account, and never had a Verizon account, so I beg to differ that this is "LEGITIMATE."  So I say this is a scam.

I paid my bill to Verizon today after receiving a text saying that I needed to talk to Verizon in the next day or two.  Yes, I was late in paying.  This, however, was my first contact from Verizon regarding the past due status.  After I got the text AND after I paid my bill, I not only received an email from Verizon, but then a phone call from this 323-404-9261.  Verizon has never called me due to a late payment and I have not received an notifications stating that this was now how they were going to operate.  I'm suspicious of this number, especially since they called after I paid, and when I did pay, I got an email sent directly thanking me for my payment, so I know it went through.

I received calls 2x today from number 323-404-9261. No voicemail was left, however, as soon as the call was gone, I received a text from Verizon Wireless advising to make a payment within 24 hrs. I did not answer due to all the phone scams occurring these days.
