Received a call on 10/08/2014 at 11:35 AM.  Robo voice on voice mail talks about saving money on household living expenses but then says, "the entire alert system and $3,000 gift certificate is free of charge.  Again, press 1 now to verify your shipping address; press 5 to notify your provider you have refused the shipment."

This was a recorded message seemingly preying on the concerns of senior citizens.  I pressed "1" to be connected to a customer service representative and spoke to "Mario".  I asked him for the name of the company and a phone number that I could reach it at.  He gave me the name of the company as "Better Life Systems" but would not give me a company phone number.  We went back and forth for a while and he ultimately hung up on me when I told him that my phone number is registered on the "Do Not Call List".

I never answer the phone...I am in the 815 area and if I am not aware of the number I look it up and NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE IF IT IS NOT SOMEONE I KNOW.  They are wasting their time calling me...and I will soon get rid of my landline anyway because I do not like these annoying phone calls....I don't need them and I don't want them and I am serious.

Telemaggoters are not exclusive to land line numbers. The have been know to call cell phones. This is not to say they will, but since they use software to randomly dial numbers, anything is possible.

That seems to be the primary target of most calls. They have been calling my mother and I am 99% certain it is related to her being a member to AARP.

Another new number, but exact same recording as 714-607-6423 except the reference to AARP has been removed. (Perhaps they were afraid of being hunted down by AARP.)  My work produces legal phone calls from numbers I don't recognize, so I answer all calls.  Besides, if I answer and it's another scam, I can tell all of you what it's about.  The scammer knows it's a working number as soon as it rings through, anyway.

I think it is unfortunate that the AARP privacy policy reserves the right to share information with third parties unless they are told otherwise.
At the very least the policy should require people to opt-in to this information being shared and not the other way around.

Same phone number, no message, do not answer, received these calls before, sick of being bothered.  I never buy anything over the phone nor give out personal information!  They are in for a shock with people like me!

Just received a call from this number but never answer unless it is someone I know.  Added it to my block list.  I use an old netbook computer with an external modem to scan my incoming calls and if I add them to my block list the next time they call they get to listen to my fax machine, which doesn't work but the connection tone is irritating.  The sweetest part is I never know they called unless i check the log files of incoming calls and I can block by caller ID, area code, area code plus first three digits, or entire number.

You can add blocking software to your cell phone too. And you can also get software that records every phone call to or from your phone automatically, which is what I do.  If we talk on my cellphone, then I have a recording of the conversation.

Thankfully I have that option. So if I don't block them, I simply ignore them.
