Received phone called, with Indian heavy accent, told me that they file law suit against me????

Just got a call from the same number 323-483-6116 - a lady with heavy Indian accent who says the US Treasury has brought charges against me, then transfers to another man with slight, or possibly fake Indian accent, who then asks for your name, and thats when I hang up.  If they are calling me, they should know my name.  This is probably where  the scammers try to phish for more info - BEWARE!

I also received a voicemail from Steve Robinson saying he was from the department of legal affairs and that if I didn't give him a call back, I could be in big trouble with the law.

Just got a call from a man identifying himself as Kevin Green with Dept of Legal Affairs. Can you say SCAM?   These people are scum.

Just got a call from this number.  The woman, with strong accent, said she was with the US Treasury Department and it was a dire emergency that she talk with me.  It was an urgent matter and it if was not handled they were going to have me arrested.  I told her I don't take scams like that likely and planned to file a report of my own for they were impersonating federal agents.  She told me I can't do that as I am the one they are after and that I needed to hold while she connected me with her supervisor.  I told her if she calls again I will have her deported and hung up.

Just received a call on my machine from a Kevin Green with the Department of Legal Affairs...asking me to call him back or there will be big legal troubles.  Like others have mentioned, he has a strong accent (possibly Indian).  I am positive that this is a complete scam!!  Beware!!  I did not call him back...wondering if anyone did get into a conversation with him??

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

Received call from 323-483-6116. I screen all incoming calls. This one was a male, I suspect Indian or Pakastani. Call was addressed to my daughter about and "important issue" and that she should call back or have her attorney call back or she will be in a legal "mess." There was no company named and the caller was very difficult to understand. I deleted the message, but have created my own log as these types of calls are bordering on harassment.

I just got a call from someone who could barely speak English, claiming to call on behalf of US Treasury Dept.  He asked for my ex-wife by (badly misprounced) name.  I told him the call was being recorded for the real US Treasury Dept. to investigate his fraud and he got panicky and hung up.

This person said the same thing.  Name is Richard Walker from the Department of Legal Affairs with the US Treasury need to call 323-483-6116, legal action being taken against me.

Could not decipher the accent - was not Indian, possibly Philippine.

I, too, got a call from "Richard Walker" yesterday, from the Department of legal affairs at "US Treasury". Thick accent, obviously reading from a script. He left a message on my voice-mail. I knew it was a scam from the start.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.  Block the calls.  DO NOT RETURN THE CALLS!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

They called once this morning, and I did not answer.  They called again 2 hours later.  I talked to a guy with a heavy Indian or Middle Eastern accent.  He transferred me to his supervisor Jason Bean with a thick accent as well.  He told me that I did not file my 2012 taxes and owed $4,790.21.  I played along since I know that the IRS does not call you.  They send certified mail.  I told him that I received a refund, so he needs to pay me $4,800.  He then told me that he was sending an officer to my house to arrest me for 6 months without bond.  I told him "Thank you", and he hung up on me.

I got a call from Steve Robinson today. He threatened to have me served at my home. I said thank you and hung up.

Voicemail received at 2:59 pm on 5/4/2015, Steve Robinson with the Department of Legal Affairs was contacting me about legal action being taken against me. It was a heavily accented voice with ambient voices in the background. When he said the name it sounded recorded...way too creepy to be real.

Today it was a "Richard Walker" - thick accent - same story - in FACT, when I googled scams about "Dept. of Legal Affairs" someone posted about 6 months ago, referring to a totally different phone number, but mentioned the guy ending his message with the exact same "have a blessed day"....Do these criminals get away with it? I was surprised by HOW MANY phone numbers are associated with the identical scam, same wording, same threats, just the names change.
