I got a message from Gary King from the Department of Legal Affairs.  I checked to see if there were any scams related to this department and sure enough I found this article:
    http://fox59.com/2014/03/24/consumer-alert-irs-warns-hoosiers-of-phone-scam/

The caller's script was nearly the same as the one mentioned in the article.

Very thick, stilted foreign accent.  EXACTLY the same as above, down to the supposed name.  SCAM!

Received call asking for my wife last night. I asked what it was about and in a very foreign accent he said he was from the IRS - stated a name and a supposed ID number. Since I knew that the IRS will only contact you by mail I simply said no interest and hung up.

Person immediately called back and instantly stated: “your wife is going to be arrested in 30 minutes” at which time I just hung up!

I hope people understand if the IRS wants you they will reach out to you by mail.

It IS the IRS scam.  I have been called numerous times from a variety of numbers and have advised them that I am on to their lies.  Still they call.  What idiots.  I suggested that if you have time, string them along and waste their time.  Be careful though, don't give them any info what so ever.  The more their time is wasted the less time they have to bother other people with whom they might be successful. For the record, I know for a fact that the IRS will not call you.  They use mail and certified mail.  (Scam needs to be added to Call type below.)

This phone number just called my house 4 times in a row. The caller id first said Los Angeles, then said private, then said just the phone number and then said LA again. All the times with the same phone number under the message. The last time it left a voicemail saying in a hard to understand accent, that it was Gary from Department of Legal Affairs. I deleted the message.

We also just received the same call from Gary King with the hard to understand accent.  We received a similar message from Washington DC earlier in the day claiming to be from the IRS with basically the same message.

My mother's house received this voicemail today- I suspected it was a scam from the easily traceable area code, but I am glad this site validated my doubts.

Now the people are using the name Ricky Steven.  Called my parents this morning saying I had a suit against me from the IRS.  Of course the IRS never sent me anything this year except for my refund check, so this is obviously a scam.  Tried to call the number given using Skype so no number would register on their system and no one would answer...not even a IRS automated system.  OBVIOUS SCAM

When I questioned by whom he couldn't tell me so I said this call will be reported & hung up on him. He called back & left message threatening my husb would be arrested & I need to get an attorney & have $8,000.00 & he would meet me in court.....bring it on!

I got a call yesterday from this Gary King.  Because I was out of the country for the last month, I had not received any mail, so fell into the trap of thinking I received something from the IRS that I missed.  They went as far as transferring me to a supervisors who supposedly read the form that was sent to me.  He lost interest and eventually hung up when i informed him that I get refunds each year.  Then, I went to look through my mail, until a friend reminded me of this type of scam.  Sadly, they may get information or money out of people who live in debt and don't check mail often or have had periods of their life where they have been disorganized.  They tell you a random year, like 2007 that you did not pay your taxes.  I don't know if eventually they try to get cc card info or identity info.

Called my home today and asked for my husband. Caller proceeded to do everything mentioned in the previous posts. He claimed we owed taxes from 2007/2008 (for "mistakes, he said). He told my husband he would give him one chance to pay, and threatened to come to his work and have him arrested if he didn't pay. He told us we owed $2900. When my husband said that he would have to speak with me first, as I handle the bills/taxes, caller got upset and that's when the threats started.
Bigtime scan! I got nervous at first, but realized it was a scam because we get refunds each year!

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I got the fraudulent call this morning.  "Ricky Stevens" with a thick accent called to say he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury.  He identified himself with badge number 11152.  He said his call was regarding an IRS case against my wife and asked if we had received the IRS CP503 form.  He also said that we should have our lawyer respond immediately.  We asked him what the case number was and he said that he didn't have that information.  He said he was instructed to collect our attorney's information so that they could start proceedings.  (So how the heck could he report the information he collects if he doesn't have a case number to report against???)  When we refused to provide any information until he had given us the case number and described the case, he told us we needed  to call his supervisor, Troy Martin, at 1-323-515-5203 (same number?!?) immediately or there would be severe legal problems.  At this point we hung up.

Department of Legal Affairs - SCAM
I received two calls right in in a row from "Troy Martin" of "Department of Legal Affairs" this afternoon.  Indian accent.  Very vague.  Asked for me by my maiden name.  Left a message with another family member of mine, stating that I was in "very bad legal trouble" and that I was being sued.  Obviously, he would not give out any further details.  I called Operator Assistance and was informed that I should report the number to the NYS Attorney General's Office.  I have advised my family that if we should receive another call, to just hang up on him.  Some people need to get a life.

I live in Arizona and am getting calls from this number with the same information. I won't call them back as I know I have "no legal affairs" to worry about.  Caller has broken english and can tell he's reading a script.   Good thing I work for an IT company and handle marketing, very familiar with scripting calls.  If you get a call from a 323-515-5203 don't call them back.  It may come across your caller id as *California*.
