- Lorie| 3 repliesThis caller reports they are from Expert Z IT Solution and that they have been hired by Microsoft and the computer that uses Windows 7 is not going to work and has been reported as infected by the APEX Federal Body that monitors computers. They called me like 25 times before I answered. I have reported to my local police as a scam.

- Pam| 1 replyI had the same experience as Lorie. Seems to be a scam. The caller said he was calling from LA and had a thick Indian accent.
- Caller: Support Dept for Microsoft
- Wendy| 1 replyMy mother just got scammed today by this person and number. :(
- anonymous replies to Lorie| 1 replyTHIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it.
- anonymous replies to WendyIf your mom let the criminal remote into her PC, the criminal may have planted malware. Unplug and park the PC until you can get it cleaned out or reformatted. Malware is silent and dangerous, do not be complacent, you must have this checked out.
- Kare BearI just received a call like this earlier this morning at work. The gentleman had a very thick Indian accent, and said that my computer was infected, was going to crash, etc., and they could show me where the "infections" were. I was suspicious, as our company has it's own IT Department, and asked him where he was calling from. He kept avoiding the question, but finally said he was from Microsoft. I made an excuse, put him on hold, called my IT department, and they confirmed it was a scam. Beware, and do not let anyone you don't know access your computer!
- Caller: Microsoft
- JLFRoy called and reported that my computer was infected and that I should turn my computer on and he would tell me what to do so he could remove the viruses. I told him I would call him back after I finished a ;program. He gave me this number.
- Caller: 323-522-5366
- LI just got this same call. They gave a callback number of 323-522-5366. My call log showed the incoming call from "Rebecca Olson" at 715-497-2440. When I wouldn't give any information and critically questioned the first guy, he put another guy on the line to try to convince me they were legit. Both had Indian accents, and I heard other voices in the background, like a call center. They claimed to be from "Windows Service Center", and when I asked if they were associated with Microsoft, they were careful to disclaim that. They ended the call because I would not stop questioning their legitimacy, and would not accept a callback number as evidence of legitimacy.
I notified my local police department, who said there is so much of this going on, that nobody ever follows up on it, so don't even bother reporting it.- Caller: Windows Service Center
- Evelyn replies to PamAlso had a caller with an accent who said he was from LA and called himself Harry Smith! Ya right! He said my windows software was infected
- tlfBefore I received phone calls from them, I've been experiencing problem with my websites (which now I assumed were implanted by them). Then, they called me today and my phone caller ID says india. The guy who speaks to me has an east indian accent which make me hard to understand what he's saying. As I kept on asking the person to repeat what he's saying, it sort of enable me to write down what they are saying. They say they are with the MS Windows, their technical support station in LA, CA. They told me they called for they have been receiving error messages from my computer and they want me to check my computer to verify this query. As I was about to do what they want me to do, I have a hard time understanding their instruction: e.g. can't find the CntlG on the extreme left of the keyboard, or icon/logo of what they want to click on, and they discover that my computer was a laptop instead of the desktop one and they sort of try to look for help and attempt to transfer me to another dept that handles laptop. What surprise me is that I've been writing down on a piece of paper of what they have saying and at the start he gave me the name of Chris Martin. But later on when I ask for the return phone number and how I can reach him, he gave the number 323-522-5366 and instead of saying that his name is Chris Martin, he said to make sure I've reached the supervision center and ask for David "Joon" (not sure of the spelling). This sort of disturbs me and so after I hang up their phone and they're waiting me to call them back with the number they gave me, I didn't bother to call him back. Then they attempt to call me back and I just ignore the phone call while I went online getting more information about this scam.

- BruceAHMy experience similar to all the others described here. Spoke to two different men with Indian accents, one said his name was Adam. Claimed to be from "Windows Service Center". Some of what he said made sense, but when he asked for money to "fix" my problems, I knew it was some kind of scam. These are the prices he gave, not to "fix" the problem, but just a required "registration fee":
1 year-$129
3 years-$189
5 years-$249
lifetime-$319
Then he said he would have to work on my computer (remotely) for about two hours to find all the problems.
Unfortunately he did trick me into giving him access before I knew what he was doing. He started opening and looking at documents stored on my desktop!!!
I told him he caught me at a bad time, and I need time to think about anything that required giving cash to a stranger who calls ME. He finally gave up on me.- Caller: Windows Service Center

- musicladyI just spent 40 minutes on the telephone with "Adam" from 323-522-5366. He also had a very thick accent from India. Gave me my Microsoft ID #, etc. He had me check several files on my computer, finding error and warning messages. After assuring me my computer would eventually crash, wanted me to connect to the Internet via teamviewer. I told him I was not going to do that without checking with my computer technician. He transferred me to "Roy Wilson," a Level 5 Technician, again with Microsoft Support Service Center in LA. I assured him I was NOT going to connect with teamviewer without checking with my technician first. He asked when I would call back. Told him I didn't know, might be tomorrow, and he said to ask for Roy Wilson only. He assured me they were having troubles in my local area and that is why Microsoft was calling ALL of their customers. He then hung up on me when I said I didn't know when it would be I might get back with him. Reading the above, I am so thankful I listened to my warning bells going off!!

- Caller: microsoft ID dept
- LeeIf you let these people download anything and remote into your computer, you need to do a system restore and change all your passwords after the restore. If they get into your e-mail, they can pretty much get into all your accounts by pretending to forget the password and resetting it for you. Bad stuff. They tried to scam my mom. I called them back and told them I hope they burn in hell.
- Caller: IT Tech Solutions
- John WayneI just got hit with the same BS. Hey gave me an address to verify they said it was 30 N. Los Angeles St. CA 90012

- ShelleyGot a call from these jerks. Typed in their phone number and sure enough found this blog. I called him out on this scam and told him I knew it was a scam and gave him a piece of my mind and he hung up. I called the number back and no answer. This is a TOTAL SCAM!!! I hope people are smart enough or think to search this number and see that it is a scam!

- KarenMy mother received a call like this also. She was not able to understand them due to the heavy accents or she may have followed their instructions. She was also told they were from Microsoft. Being elderly and not computer savy she freaked out calling me wanting to know what to do. It really scared her. She doesn't have much money and was in fear her new purchase was already a paperweight. I am glad they had the accent that kept her from doing what they wanted. The number she was given to have me call back on was 323-522-5366 and to ask for Roy Wilson or Anna Anderson. They made her feel like it had to be addressed imediately or her computer would be no good ever.
