This is, I suspect, what I get for opening up to the newspaper about being harassed by these people. My story was on the front page (re: being called incessantly by solar scams) and the volume of these calls keeps increasing. It is really irritating. I don't own a home...I have no use for solar panels.

I also think it's quite adorable when people on these sites mention the Do Not Call List. That isn't real. It's extremely naïve to believe that putting your name on such a list will lead to the cessation of such calls. Only meaningful legislation that bans this harassment coupled with money for law enforcement to find and shut down these operations will put an end to it. Quit crying about the Do Not Call List. It does not do what you wish it did.

Missed call, called right back, somebody mumbled something-not English, I asked who is was, hung up on me. Called back and phone not answered.  I can't say enough about these time consuming unethical losers but these calls should be able to be stopped ...whether or not you have the "don't call me registration".  There has to be a way or someone interested enough to stop permanently these known fake calls.  The numbers are there!  Close their phone accounts down as often as needed.  I pay a lot for phone service and should not have these false calls

Got a call from this number today. I never never never ever answer calls which are outside my area code. If you don't recognize the number or it's not in your area code, don't give the caller the satisfaction of hearing your voice. Just don't answer it.

Agreed. That however will also drive more of these criminal enterprises off-shore and beyond the reach of US law. Most of my community have a tacit agreement: I understand you use an answering machine to screen your calls and it is OK to pick up after you hear my sweet voice.

Call blockers and reportage like this site have driven criminals and scofflaws to the use of VOIP single-use spoofed numbers which may trace back to unsuspecting legitimate subscribers, just like getting an e-mail from Joe after his contact list was hijacked.

Pickup and listen. If you hear nothing or a delay hang up and note the caller. For robocalls just set the phone down. It will register "no response".  Block repeat offenders. "Out of Area" when it is in your LATA is a dead give away. Any prefix beginning with "1" is bogus. Take some control.

I'll stop them for you alright. First off, NOBODY on here has more control over who calls you than you do. This site does not offer call blocking, nor do we have control over who calls who. You're not required to answer the phone in any way, in fact, if you don't know who's calling you, you're better off ignoring the calls completely.

Caller ID "Local Marketing".  I didn’t answer, and the caller did not go through the prompts to bypass my call screening device.
