The scammer left the following voice message:

"This message is intended to contact "my full name". Hi, this is David Melo with the Department of Legal Affairs at the U.S. Treasury, and I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. The number to reach me is 323-786-9814. If for any reason you are busy to call back, I would suggest you to have your retain attorney to do it for you, as delay in calling us might end up into a legal mess for you. Until then, have a blessed day and God bless."

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I had two messages on 9-12-14 in Oregon.  They said about the same thing as the above:  Calling from Department of Legal Affairs, I had legal action against my name, to call or have an attorney and it was urgent and have a blessed day.  Caller was male.  Didn't understand first name. Seemed like it started with a G.  Last name was Williams.

Same message.  Thought he said David Miller, but perhaps David Melo as first poster mentioned.  Wanted my lawyer's information.  Hung up on him, he called back.  Said a letter had been mailed two days previously.  When asked for a number to call back, gave 323-786-9814, and said associate Erika Perkins has all the details.

I got the exact same message. He said his name was Joshua Williams.

I receive the same call from Erica Perkins. This is a scam. They should be reported. The call was made today September 17th 2014.

Same thing happened to me. Called back twice.

Same thing - they actually had my brother's name and said it was intended for him. (He doesn't live here) Everything else the same as reported above - Dept of Legal Affairs, 323-786-9814, etc.

same call here......  david miller and I could barley understand his message.  So happy I found this site so I do not have to deal with this.

Got the same call. The kept calling back after I hung up on him. He told me his name was Jeff Thomas even though he sounded like he was Indian or middle eastern.

Just got a call from Jeff Thomas for my husband.  I told him it was a scam call when he could not give me the last two digits of my husbands social.  He turned really mean when I kept asking for the social.

Same Scam called and left a voice mail: (A man with the name David Miller, but with a strong Indian accent...)
"Hi this message is intended for -------. Hot get your baby miller o'clock turned off you going to US treasury all you all the time. I was trying to reach you in regards to already ... be sure to reschedule the notification for you in regards to the law enforcement actions that have been stocked it's on your name. My number is (323) 786-9814. I will repeat that (323) 786-9814. If for any reason you are gimme a call me back I will guess you do have your Right for attorney to do it for you I have been calling kaiser might be and update your leaving a message for you on your home. Hey it's right at call me back this is David Miller the Department of you get up rise you I actually looking forward to speak to you until then have a blessed day and God bless. Goodbye."

I look it up and the (323) 786-9814 land line is located in South Los Angles near Highway 110 area using YMax communication as carrier (most likely an IP phone).

Same basic call.  Said his name was Steve Smith.  Did not mention agency.  Thick Indian accent.  Talked about legal mess;  ended call with "God Bless."  We will report this to state and federal agencies.

On 9/22/2014 I received a call from a man with an Indian accent who said his name was Steve Smith. He said he was calling about a serious legal matter and was asking to speak to my daughter. When I informed him she did not live here, he demanded to know my name. He continued to say my daughter was in trouble with the government regarding taxes. At this point I told him never to call again and I knew he was trying to scam me.

I received the same message today (9/22/14) as the commenters above.  Heavy Indian accent claiming to be from the Department of Legal Affairs from the (323) 786-9814 number.  Said if we didn't call him back we would be in a "legal mess".  Glad to see this was a scam.  Got me nervous for a minute -which is what they count on to get calls back.

I had a call from someone who said his name was David Miller from US Treasury Legal Affairs allegedly about a law enforcement action. Same scam as previously reported.  The called ID said the call was from Los Angeles.

Got the same call and asked for my nephew for a law enforcement action.  The caller with strong Indian accent knew all my family names except me.  I smelled something phishing and hang up.  He called back and kept saying he's from US Treasury Legal Affairs.  I hang up again and called back.  The other end was a lady with Indian accent who even game me her badge number...After repeatedly asking what's your company doing, she hang up on me.  I called back again, and got a recording msg saying "all agents are busy...leave your message...".

Should government do something since this scam group using "US Treasure Dept of Legal Affairs"?

I received the same call today. I asked the individual what is his job title and he said paralegal. I then asked what is his pay grade and he kept ignoring the question. I also said this is a scam call and he kept repeating that he is from legal affairs. I finally hung up.

Received a voicemail from "David Miller" at 323-786-9814. It is most certainly a scam.
