I think this is a telemarketer call. I just got the same call with no one on the other end. They are checking to see when someone will answer then they have a telemarketer call within the next day or two at the same time.

FCC = Fails to address Consumers Concerns

Stop with the Do Not Call list. We all know it doesn't work. Got a call from this #. Call back and it goes to a google voice account. They have utilized Google Voice for a Number that is a valid # but goes nowhere. Google does not supply a way to report abuse of a # without getting the run around from Google themselves.

FCC needs to make regulations that require telephone #s displayed have an automated way for a service provider to validate the #. If it can not validate then it would flag it on your caller ID as not verified and you should have a way to automatically block these calls. They then need to actually prosecute offenders. When convicted an implant should be put in to the convicteds head. They should then be warned thoroughly and the next time a telephone speaker magnet goes near their ear their head would explode. I do not feel a bit sorry for these people. They would not want these calls at their home but have no problem bothering everyone else with their scam.

Draco would be proud of your solution.  It wouldn't hurt if the crappy FTC/FCC would make an example of some of these scammers.  If the word got out that something bad was REALLY going to happen to them, it might stop this nonsense.

In the mean time, get a call blocker.

    Fed Up with FCC
The "no-call list" is something we need and pay for, that does nothing. The government is always the problem, never the solution.

Yes, solar marketing call, pretending to be a CA State program.

It annoys me when people glibly suggest the FCC does nothing and the DNC list never makes examples of people.   The FCC continues to prosecute offenders on a regular basis, levying massive multimillion dollar fines and putting calling scams out of business - read their press releases at the DNC website:

    http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media-resource ... try/enforcement

It's not the FCC's fault that technology has gotten ahead of any telco's ability to identify the source of a call.   Ensuring that Caller ID cannot be spoofed is a step that must be taken, but that technology hasn't been invented yet.

We are on a do-no call list and yet we constantly get these calls.  They never leave a message.  When I pick up I tell them to take us off their list but they still call.  We have a phone number that we pay for monthly - I think we have the right to have people not call us.  I belive we should be able to bill these people that are always call us on our phone number.  I am tired of unsolicited calls and when we tell them to take us off they list they still call.  Seriously considering not having a phone - why should I pay a monthly fee to have companies I don't want to talk to calling me and leaving no messages?????

    >> We are on a do-no call list and yet we constantly get these calls.  <<

This post has two parts.  The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list.  The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.

    1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls from legitimate telemarketers.
    * Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
    * Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

    2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

    Here is your reading assignment:
    https://www.donotcall.gov/
    http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media-resource ... try/enforcement
    http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases ... lemarketers-pay

Remember, the Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.  The DNC list does not cover calls from criminal scammers & spammers.  To report those, visit https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

got a call a few minutes ago - no message. i recently bought a new Panasonic phone at Costco for about $70 - the best feature is the call blocking.  Now every time I get a call that doesn't leave a message I add that number to my blocked call list. You can block up to 250 calls. Several times a day I get calls from "the IRS" asking me to pay my "audited" underpayment or someone who claims I spoke to them recently about home improvements! I rarely answer but I'm in the process of getting solar now and sometimes I get legitimate calls from an 800 number and will answer. Now I get calls where the phone will ring once and show that the call is blocked -- I just love it. I too was considering getting rid of my land line until I got this new phone. Best $70 I ever spent!

Third time I have loaded this complaint and it just disappears:

Called today from two pests  323-892-1188 and 817-665-8325.

    Calls blocked.

In the bad ole analog switch days, one could not spoof numbers or send phony numbers and much but not all could be blocked. Today with voip and traffic over the web, the world is wide open to the creeps and cruds. No one is validating the numbers, the underlying ip address sending the crap, nor the called id that has become useless.

We are cursed to be plagued into hades with this mess. Frankly, we should get the originating ip address shown/displayed  for immediate action against THEM.

so far, the only real answer against this mess is using a local call blocker and your own answering machine to stop/trap this garbage.

As well intended as do not call lists are they are utterly ineffectual against this crap. I have had to have a computer based call blocker on my home phone for the last 3 years while I was getting 5 to 10 phony calls a day to my home phone.

Yes, I want the clowns  arrested!

A call purporting to be from this number arrived today.  When the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message.  This behavior is typical of robocallers using automated dialers to call numbers in sequence.  If a live person answers, the automated dialer (after a few seconds' delay) routes the call to a live telemarketer to begin the "pitch."  Increasingly, these callers are scam artists who specialize in wallettechtomy -- surgical removal of the wallet!

DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM.  DO NOT ANSWER THESE CALLS.
