called me twice this morning i called it back and its a company named dcs, i have no idea who they are

4/3/15- this # called me 3 x today- twice in a row 9:33 and 9:34 am - i hung up receiver after 2nd ring both times, called back 3rd time 4:23 pm took phone off hook black female kept  saying ma'am, ma'am - since i didn't say anything how did she know if i was male or female? phone off hook no idea who they are

Called, hung up & left no message.  They do this so they can show they're "working" at collecting when all they're actually doing is boosting their metrics.

Not that your guess is implausible, but frequent call abandonment is typically a symptom of overcranking a predictive dialer until the call volume outstrips the number of warm bodies available in a call center.
