    don't lie to me
Caller said he was from Microsoft calling about my computer. I asked where he got my number from and told him to remove me from his calling list.  He said he wouldn't,  so I hung up on him. F-er.

Call came in at 6 AM.  "This is windows and we have information your computer is being hacked".  I kept saying "Do you know what time it is?"  Foreign accent. I finally said I didn't own a computer and he hung up.  Are there people who actually fall for this kind of scam and why do they call so darn early?

To answer your questions, yes, there are people who are not computer savy and fall for this or there would not be so many reports about so many different numbers running this scam.  And it is not early where they are. These calls often originate from the Indian subcontinent where it would be late afternoon or early evening their time.

SOB called my house at 6:10am waking up the entire household.  Effing jerks.  Am so sick of these calls I could scream.  I have an elderly mother so to hear the phone ring at this hour sent me into a panic.  All I got was a recording saying "Goodbye".  UGH!!  Too bad the DNC list is so worthless.

It's not likely they can hack into your computer just from your calling the number back, but what DOES happen, and might have in your case, is that by calling the number back you might have validated your phone number as a "live" number with someone who is so curious they had the need to call back to see who was calling. That might indicate to them that your are gullible and might fall for their scam.

It might also mean your "live" phone number is now in their database, and will be shared with other scam artists.

Resist the temptation to call back when you get a call like this, and don't pick up if/when another call comes from this number, or a number you don't recognize.

We received a hang up call at 7:15AM.  That is an absolutely unacceptable time to be calling a private residence.

I have received many calls frrom this number and have jist hung up the phone.   Today I was in a kind mood and thought I would listen.  He was very computer savvy and I  followed his instructions until it got to the part where I was to give him my identification code so that he could access  my computer.  At this point I became very uncomfortable and said I would have my computer service man correct these defects. He got upset and said that was not necessary.  I hung up and he then called my number 5 times.  I checked my phone book and found no american  area codes for 333. I am  so thrilled that I smartened up in time.

I got a call this morning- 3/4/15 at 7:30 a.m. it showed i.d. no. 333-255-2222 which then displayed unavailable--when I answered no one spoke--a bit strange-also I do not know of a "333" area code!
