Wanting to ship medical alert system. SCAM!

Got a call at 6:43 pm.  I did not answer and they did not leave message.  The caller ID showed: V10218422400010 and the number 336-292-6192.   I don't respond to any call that displays "unknown, unfamiliar, unlisted, etc. or strange spellings or numbers."

Caller ID says "Unavailable".  Left no message.

Picked up on third ring got dial tone buzz (they hung up b4 I picked up).  CID:V10220110700018 phone#336-292-6192

I am on the Do Not Call Register. At 7:56 PM on Friday, January 2, 2015 my home landline phone rang. When I answered "hello" the caller slammed down the phone. My caller ID identified the caller as "Greensboro, NC." followed by the number "336-292-6129." Not sure why some morons waste time being morons.

I just got a call from them too. I have just recently put myself on the Do Not Cll List for about the 3rd time.

It does little good. My phone rings day and night with bhullshirt spammer calls like this.

Sometimes the morons want you to return the call and you will get charged something.

They are criminals.

Received a call from 1-336-292-6192.  CID was Greensboro NC.  I gave it the old one ring pickup and immediate hang up.

I guess they have the dumb mutes working the tele system again. Recorder picked up on the 4th ring & no one spoke! WOW!

Because so many good folks telephones are being invaded with unwanted scam/spoof callers, several good folks have setup a free call blocking service.  Google “free call blocking service” to see what is available, you will be glad you did. You can also get your own “Call Blocking Phone” and call-block all those unwanted callers. We laugh each time such calls ring our phone and are blocked.

Called,hung up. Get a lot of calls like this.i guess these lazy butts just go through the motions,pretending they are doing their job,till the end of the shift.

Exactly.  They're criminals.  That's why they ignore the Do Not Call registry.  That's what criminals do.  Most of these calls don't even originate within the U.S. - caller ID info is spoofed so you'll answer, then they try to sucker you in.  Must be pretty successful or they wouldn't keep doing it.

Why and what do these fools think they are accomplishing?

YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING". DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS. DON’T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED! When you press the number to have your number removed, all you do is confirm that your number is a working one and then they sell your known active number to another scammer. Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all.

Let me explain my idea of ROBO CALLS. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). Add to that that there are 800 possible area codes.  The program starts calling every number that it can in succession.  So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone.  I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site (9,999,98 numbers times 800 more to copy and paste to).

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES (statute of limitations on debt:  http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/statuteLimitations.shtml)  who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective..  DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either.

So, just block them, , and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls.  If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back.  No problem.  It’s a lot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller,  but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional.  My home phone blocks 30 numbers but the address book holds 3,000 numbers.  I save each call as spam and don't answer it.

The Center for Investigative Reporting joined two news organizations in an investigation of groups that use telemarketers to raise money and what they found is that most of the money is paid to telemarketers, leaving the charities with little, if anything. (3%)

Not only that but reputable charitable organizations don't solicit donations by phone.

So it's good advice to remember to just say no to anyone who solicits over the phone unless you actually know the person calling.

Scam ----  "Your medical alert order is ready for shipment now - press 1 now"

Just got a call from this number. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. From other messages it seems like this is the same scam caller that has called us on other numbers about medical devices we have not ordered. This number is now on blocked list.

Scam alert, block this number....if you call back, recording says you have reached a number that has been disconnected....scam and also "spoofing" a legitimate telephone number

Thanks Rox for the excellent overview. Not only are these calls maddening and intrusive, but their  frequency is out of control. I never answer calls from unfamiliar people or numbers, and I strongly recommend that people get a phone blocker, which helps no matter how simple or sophisticated. I have Phone Tray. One of their features is their huge database of nuisance callers which they block automatically should they call you. I find that especially helpful if I can't get to the phone before voice mail picks up and lets them know my number is functional. You can also permanently block an incoming number mid-call just by clicking an icon you'll see while the phone is ringing.  

Also, there's a program called NOMOROMO which, I believe, is free. It is not compatible with many telephone numbers, though, mine included, but it works for others, and it's a great way to cut down on these calls.
