Got a call from this number, no response when I answered - I assume this is likely another "phishing" call - finding out when your are home, so a telemarketer can call. COOL - call back, I'M WAITING...
The National Do-Not-Call Registry was a good start and 90+ percent of legitimate companies respect and use it. The remaining scum telemarketers will keep changing tactics and dancing around the DNCR and will only ever respond to what hurts their bottom line. My solution requires a bit of time and effort, but ultimately will save us all a lot of aggravation…
    1.    ALWAYS answer the phone – if we are running away, the “terrorists” win. ALWAYS “press  1” to talk to an Operator.
    2.    When you get an actual person, express reluctant interest in whatever product or service is being hawked. Talk slowly and ask lots of questions. Always give phony personal info like CC#, SS#, address, heck even change your name slightly. Keep them on the line as long as possible.
    3.    Try to get as much info about the company as possible and file a BBB complaint (“Unethical Sales Practices”). A national energy company recently revamped their entire telemarketing policies in regard to the DNCR in response to a BBB complaint I filed – this CAN work.
    4.    If the product involves your home, set up an appointment for a time that you are not home, or just don’t answer the door. This can cost a company a LOT of money and resources.
Remember, the goal is to cost these companies time, money, and maybe more importantly, to make it impossible for them to know if they are talking to a sucker, or just another Phone Punker. Be creative, have fun, and feel proud that YOU are helping to eliminate one of life’s many intractable and seemingly un-fixable problems.

Already I've received 4 calls from 336-337-3389 so far today, and checking my caller I.D., found  someone from that number had called on previous days, recently. I answered several of the calls, and within a second or two, get a dial tone.

Don't forget to post whatever you find out here.  The name of the telemarketing agents, the name of the company, the company web site, the company telephone number, etcetera.

"This is home protection service, how are you today?"  our ans: We are fine and don't want your service. we hung up.  we are on the dnc register.
the only reason we answered is we have kin in this area code.

This was a call from "Jesse", one of my favorite robot callers. "He" seems very pleasant and helpful, asking questions about my home and any alarms I might need. Unfortunately, we got disconnected before I could get connected to a mere human operator (I just KNOW "Jesse" didn't hang up on me - our Bot overlords would NEVER be so rude). I really hope "he", or a human underling calls back, so I can play the time-waste game with them, asking lots of questions and giving lots of completely bogus information when asked, and maybe even get enough information on the company involved to file a BBB complaint against them ("Unethical Sales Practices" for violating the National Do-Not-Call Registry). C'mon "Jesse", call back,  I miss you...

I got another call from Jesse and he is a live person. H sounds so much like a recording. I asked a question and he demanded that I let him finish. He started over again and when I told him not to ignore me, he told me to just allow him to stick to the script. He started over again. I had to laugh.
