    A spoof or phony caller...
Because so many good folks telephones are being invaded with unwanted scam/spoof callers, several good folks and the Vonage VoIP Phone service, have setup a free call blocking service. On the Internet, Google  “free call blocking service” and see what is available, you will be glad you did. You can also get your own “Call Blocking Phone” and call-block all those unwanted callers. We laugh each time such calls ring our phone and are blocked and then exclaim, “Thank You.”

I didn't pick this up, but the ID said Cruz. So I'm guessing it's either a political donor call or someone spoofing a political donor call. This was at my work location. I flat don't answer any call I don't recognize.

The caller stated her name was Marie and she was a fund raiser for Senator Ted Cruz  election Campaign. This is a legit call. Please respond if you are in a generous mood or go along with the core principals of the senator.

I had given money to Ted Cruz some months back. Now after receiving a call on my phone which is registered as a "DO NOT CALL" phone number with the United States Governmental "Do not Call List" , I don't think his going to get anymore money from me. He aught to get out of the Presidential race NOW. He's just colleting money from people that will go to his pocket. TED Bow OUT and quit taking advantage of people who could give that money to another candidate that has a chance. If you don't your no better than a scam artist!

Apparently you are unaware that political calls are exempt from the Do Not Call provisions.

I gave him $100 on the day he announced and that's enough (since it's the first time I've ever given a political contribution).  But I disagree that he doesn't have a chance.  Even if he doesn't get the nod, he's the most likely VP pick by Trump.

I think this is NOT a legit Ted Cruz call.
In just the last two weeks I have received solicitation calls from various phone numbers with various IDs -- CRUZ, CRUZ CHQ, TED CRUZ,  ... these are probably scams.  If money is sent it will NOT go to Ted Cruz ... or only a very small amount (e,g, $3 on $100) will go to Cruz.  Ted Cruz is too smart to raise money with such phone calls.  Marie may sound very believable but here is a much better way --
If you are going to support Cruz YOU should call (for example, a Cruz campaign headquarters) and get the correct address to which money supporting Cruz should be sent.  Don't respond to a phone call TO you -- your money most likely will go to a thief !  YOU should call and get the address YOURSELF  -- don't let SOMEONE call you and give you an address to which money is to be sent.
ttc6006, don't sound like a shill! -- I like Cruz too.  Be careful who you send your contributed support money to.  Also, read the Consumer Reports article "A Crying Shame" in the November 2015 issue.
These scams are rampant.  And my phone company is not helping!  I did call that company and express my concern -- as I told the company rep the lines I was being given by the callers the response was (to the lines) "lies", "lies" , "lies" ....   The advice I get from friends who also are receiving numerous scamming calls is "buy a blocker."

I agree with nocall.  If you want to give money to ANY candidate, do it through that candidate's website or by calling their campaign headquarters.  If you get a call asking for a donation to a particular candidate, and you like that candidate and want to support him or her, politely tell the caller that you will make your donation online.  If they persist and get pushy, hang up.  Better yet, don't answer calls from numbers you do not recognize.

I don't answer caller unknowns. I have donated a few times to Ted Cruz (ONLINE ONLY) I will continue to donate to Ted Cruz on my own schedule and he has my vote. but not because of the phone solicitations. Phone/software can enable regular folks who volunteer, to telemarket for their candidate from their own homes. I have done so, but no longer do, because I used to make my living telemarketing adverts and I'm retired and would rather pound a keyboard and stare at screens in silence. Knowing how irritating solicitation calls or texts can be, it may be counter productive to telemarket candidates, but then, I guess not, or the campaigns would not do it.
