- Bill replies to sandy| 1 replyI just received an identical call from this same phone number. They were "certified" by Microsoft and wanted to help clean up my computer. For $363, they would install Microsoft Security Essential and PC Matic. MES is a free program and PC Matic is not endorsed by Microsoft.
Be very cautious! - A. Nonie Mouse replies to BillThis scam has been going on forever. They won't install any useful programs on your computer - they will install spyware and steal any credit card numbers, account names and passwords, and contacts on your computer. Probably the only safe use for your computer after they have had their way with it is as a paperweight.
- BarbaraI just got the same phone call and he's waiting for my phone call back. Glad I found this site first!

- MMy husband received the call and let them into the system. I traced the phone call, but was not able to find the name of the owner. The call originated in New York.

- WalkerLeeHello all,
I got the same call and the same hefty price (for life yet!)
I first got a fellow named Will and then was transferred to Jack, a person with "excellent" technical skills." Both had strong accent. Both had strong accents. I asked Jack to show me their website and he (using TeamViewer, brought up a well done/excellent website. Jack insisted that he show it all to me, but he wouldn't give me the full name, and I thought the IRed name at the top -- quite big --- could be googled. I couldn't find it, and it didn't show up in my "history" of websites Jack was quite excited talking about his firm's close ties with Microsoft and pictures of the staff, all trained by Microsoft. He wanted a quick decision and I told him I didn't work that way and suddenly the details of his offer were erased from my screen. He did leave his call-back number and Will's name and that's what led me to this page, Jack typed the following on my screen and I saved it. Happy to share:

Glad I didn't sign on, although the list of 4,200 error notices that he showed me was daunting.- Caller: 77 years old and retired!

- D from MinnesotaI just got a call yesterday from "Morgan" at Red Hot ID Solutions. He had a heavy accent, so it was difficult for me to understand him - he said it was due to a bad connection. He got irate when I explained that I had trouble understanding him - he was almost yelling in to the phone that he was endorsed by Microsoft or something and they'd gotten a report about errors on my computer -- he was trying to scare me and said he'd show me on my computer all of the errors. He kept saying that I was on the computer and I kept saying that I wasn't. I finally asked for his name and # to call him back and he gave it - Morgan at 1-347-305-0007. He kept being loud, so I finally told him that I was done talking to him. **This is a huge scam.** I just googled the phone number and it belongs in New York. I am in Minnesota.

- Jill RobinsonBeware of Ron - a heavily accented man that will give you a spiel about your computer having errors, out of the blue, and not able to prove that you're the problem. HE is. I have a Mac, not a PC, in the first place. This is a SCAM. Look what comes up when you type in 'www.apple.comuf.com'. It's a very official looking site that will suck the life out of your laptop if you give in.
High pressure tactics, too. I explained I have a Mac, and he wouldn't let up trying to convince me that my computer had errors. Don't fall for it.- Caller: 'Microsoft' - described as a red hat company.

- M SalvadorBEWARE!
Absolutely RUDE and hard selling, condescending sales person telling me something is wrong with my computer. We do not have Microsoft 7 on any of our computers. They called 3 times. It was obviously a call center out of India because I could hear other sales people in the background saying the exact same thing to other poor victims. Honestly!- Caller: Microsoft Cert. Dept - Ired

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0076-telemarketing-scams - John SmithI got a call from John Smith with a heavy accent. Right away I could tell this was a scam so I asked him if he was born in the US since his name was John Smith. (The idiot didn't realize he could have just used a foreign name since so many foreigners work here anyway.) He told me he was born in the US but had a father who was from India...which explains the accent (LOL)...although he grew up in NY.
The caller ID gave me 948-547-6077 when I asked for his company name and phone number John told me it was Red Hot ID Solutions 347-305-0007. When I kept asking him questions regarding his accent and company he got frustrated and transferred me to a Tech Specialist named Ron. Ron then (also with an accent) told me error messages from my computer were being sent to his desk and his job was to help me fix those problems. I asked him for what kind of error messages. At first he told me there were too many to list. So I asked to be just provide with 1 to understand how dangerous the situation was...finally he said, "I got an error 101"
I asked, "so is that for my Windows OS or Chrome?" he said, "Windows OS" ...I replied, "You must really be good at your job. I have a MAC." He hung up.
I called the number John provided just to see who would answer. Ron answered the phone. I asked what company I just call and he replied it was a pizza company. I asked for the name of the pizza company and he then asked me why I needed to know and hung up.
The entire conversation was recorded.- Caller: Red Hot ID Solutions

- robin in san francisco| 2 repliesI got a call from a man with an Indian accent saying my computer was generating 80% errors and that he needed to tell me which applications so that I could be aware of them. He said he was calling from Microsoft but it seemed fishy to me. While I had him on the phone I put the number into google and found this.

- bclOR replies to sandyThe scammers are still at it and manage to rook one of my friends today. They left this ph# with him. 347-305-0007
I had a call like this last month. My strategy was to waste as much of their time as possible by getting the scammer to talk about the weather, his family, his boss, working conditions, salary rates, noise levels, seating comfort, motorcycles, etc. until he gets flagged for being unproductive. I then asked to talk to his boss and berated the boss for not giving out better wages and working conditions. Amusing when I pull it off <g>. - ChrisThese people are trying to get victims to let them fix their computers by remote. They are thieves hang up
