Steve Martin claiming to be from the IRS

IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.

Just got a message regarding an "enforcement action" from the US Treasury and requires serious attention. If I don't call back, it is considered ignoring an official criminal action and I'll be hauled in front of a grand jury, etc. etc. Have long ago stopped taking these calls seriously and have blocked half the phone numbers in the US but still these calls come through. Don't these guys have anything else to do with their time?!

Same guy "Steve Martin" same number. said he was from the US Treasury Dept,. Talked about ignoring the call could result in prosecution.

Got a call from Steve Martin today.  Feb 5th. 347-342-1079 claiming that if I did not call them back at that number I would face serious enforcement action form US magistrate.

Steve shares duties as an actor and IRS agent these days and he really is from India.  Best take that wild and crazy guy seriously. Of course it also wouldn't hurt to keep him from leaving you messages, either. He'll be in severe trouble if he's got nobody answering his calls.

Same scam ad other above.  You are subject to an enforcement action by the US TreasurY Dept.  Failure to respond will result in dire legal consequences.  No need to reply. This is not how the IRS or Treasury Dept communicate.

Got the same scam and message.. called the number back(with no intention of sharing any info) and the phone #  didn't ring, just dead silence...

Actually they don't.  Call center pays about $300/month in India which is a pretty good middle class salary.  People with good English skills are high in demand.  About all you can do is block the numbers and don't pick up on call numbers you do recognize.  Ongoing scam.  Been around for awhile.
