    Usual idiots, caller ID says "New York," no message left. Call came in right before Portfolio Recovery with yet another new number and their junk debt scam -- probably connected. If soooo important, for just once, LEAVE A MESSAGE!!! I will never answer if I do not recognize area code or number or if caller ID not specific.

    Could be Portfolio Recovery.   They have reportedly used this number in the past.

    Portfolio Recovery Associates is a debt collection company that purchases old credit card debt from companies who wish to write the debt off their books.  They are a publicly traded company.  The debt that is sold to them is usually old, which is why they can buy it for mere pennies of its real worth. Sometimes they start collection calls but more often than not, they move directly to issuing a summons for you to appear in court.
