- tonyCaller wanted to send me an additional Medicare Card he claimed I needed in addition to my main card. Asked if I was collecting Social Security. Asked to verify my address (which he could get from any phonebook search). He wanted to verify by giving him the name of my bank! I asked him why he needed a bank name and he said he did not need the account number just the bank name. I repeated my question; "Why?". He gave me someone else who did not have that much of an accent compared to him. He said the same thing and I said to call back later while I checked with Social Security and he hung up on me.
- barbaraI also received a call on Oct 10 asking the same questions. I contacted the BBB, Bank and the Police.

- HowardMidday oct 11. Caller with heavy accent of some sort told my 85 yr old mother in south florida they were changing her medicare coverage to nationwide. No more medicare. Nationwide. They asked for her bank information and soc sec number. They also confirmed her address, which is why we called the police. She hung up on the guy.

- Mary BardmessHeavy accented woman claimed to be from National Medical Office wanted to speak to my husband who is 90 and has dementia. Lucky I answered the phone and not him! She said she needed to verify some information. She was very difficult to understand, but not impossible.
- Caller: "National Medical Office" scam
- jimhang-up call. ( I answered the phone by saying "yo!" when I saw it was from brooklyn).
I wish we had a government that made some effort to protect the elderly from these scams.- Caller: unknown name
- JHCalled my elderly mother this morning. Man with middle eastern accent attempted to get the name of my mother's bank and her account number. He told her it was about Medicare going nationwide and he was going to send her a "new card". I took the phone and told him that he should already have all of the information that he needed and asked for a phone number to return his call. He hung up. THIS IS A SCAM! IF YOU GIVE THESE PEOPLE THIS INFORMATION, THEY CAN TAKE MONEY OUT OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! Report these people to your state's Attorney General's Office.
These are the lowest scum of the earth, that would try to take advantage of elderly people who are trusting! - investigatorMy father is getting calls from that number for 3 month now.they are women with no accent.Well it is nasty and He is older person and very innocent ...they stole His identity once..Now He got these calls few times a day...

- ChezMy story is the same as everybody else: Heavily accented lady first asked for my dad "CHAR-les" and said she's from the national medical office. They had the address correct but couldn't answer "WHOSE national medical office?" Just deflected that with, "Yah, all seniors are going to get new medical card." And finally, she asks the question to verify you are the recipient, "Could you please give us the bank information where you receive Social Security payments?" "No, I will not." She was still talking while I hung up the phone.
And you just know, if the social security administration or medicare needs to contact you, they'll send a letter. If they do phone, the caller ID will say something other than "New York."
JH above said it best: "These are the lowest scum of the earth, that would try to take advantage of elderly people who are trusting!"

- I Love My Mom| 2 repliesMy elderly mother received a call from this number very recently while she was home alone and I later verified this number from her caller ID. She told me it sounded so official so she provided her bank routing number after they had other clearly identifiable information. We changed her bank account information the next day and put her on the no call list. I would love to find out who these scumbags are. Thank you everyone who has posted here. Mom now knows what NOT to do when one of these crap people call her. Please take care of your loved ones who may be vulnerable.

- tenpointsofjusticeMy mom received a call today and the Caller ID was 911-243-390-8000. I realize this is too many digits but that is what showed up on her phone. The posts in this forum are similar to the ones I experienced today as I intercepted the call and spoke with these jokers instead of my elderly mother. They also wanted to "confirm" by having her list her address (she just moved so they had the wrong one) and confirm her bank account routing numbers! As soon as I said that I wanted to do some research on this they said to take all the time we needed. When I asked for their toll free number to call them back they refused to give me a number since the 24 hour toll free number "was for cardholders only". Since they said my mother was already a cardholder earlier in the call and that they needed to send her a new card, I busted them right then and there. I told them my next call would be to the police.
