- Matty14| 1 replyI got a call from this guy.. I called him back the first time and told him that Treasury officials don't call over the phone.. They send letters; so he needs to work on his scam better. I called him the 2nd time from my cell phone and he asked for the land line number.. I said it was area code 991... 867-5309.... He said no name came up (there is no 991 area code)... I told him that my name was Tommy TooTone and that I was calling for my wife Jenny... Who's number I got off the wall.... He didn't know what the hell I was talking about... I then played the song for him.. He told me to f--- off... and Hung Up.

- MDguyI allowed this call to go to voicemail, as anyone who tries to call me during the day uses my cell phone, not my land line.
After listening to the message, it's a guy with a very thick accent who says his name is "Kenneth Gray" and he's threatening legal action from the US Treasury.
I get one of these calls usually every several months or so. I recognize the voice, and last time he called, his name was "Sean White."
This is a scam. Don't give this scumbag any information.- Caller: "Kenneth Gray"

- Buffalo NYReceived a call from a Dennis Gray saying there is a US Treasury enforcement action against me and if I don't call him back at 347-418-0583 I will have to go in front of a US magistrate or grand jury. From what I read this is a scam.

- Gail D| 1 replyJust had a call 10 minutes ago from Dennis Gray saying he is from the US Treasury Department and I had filed my 2010 Federal taxes in correctly and that I have failed to take action on the certified letters from the IRS. He gave me specific dates that these were sent and when I told him I have never received anything from the IRS that does not show any evidence. I started then getting suspicious when he recited my address incorrectly.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
. - Concerned USA CitizenI just got a call from (347)418-0583 who said he was Officer Frank with the US Treasury Department Office of Litigation. He said it pertained to my 2010 tax return. I asked him if he was located in DC and he said he was. I then asked him why he was not calling from a DC phone number. He told me was calling from a NY office. Sensing this was a scam, I then asked him why the IRS or Treasury Office did not send me anything in the mail...he ended up hanging up on me. I called the number back and spoke to another Officer who hung up the phone on me. I called again and asked to speak to a supervisor. An Officer Robert Bryson got on the phone and asked me for my name so he could look up my file. He ended up hanging up the phone on me too. All scammers. So glad I looked up this number to see other complaints stemming from this same phone number and to confirm the subject of the conversations were similar.

- m dI received the call while out of town. He actually left a message. Curious, I called Monday and talked to a lady "agent" who actually gave her"badge" number. Without giving any info she called me "MRS." D (i am single) She proceeded to chastise me for not responding to letters sent in 2012. (I didn't live at this address.) Then she said 2013. (Still not here).
What a bunch of dufuses and busy. I hear my sister and sister-in-law each got a call.
Weird thing was when I did a search of where 347 area code was located it showed this number even before I entered it. But there wasn't any messages yet. - NOTBORNYESTERDAY replies to MichiganYeah, good old dennis or kenneth called me too... Just quaking in my boots.
