Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - R. co| 1 replya heavy accented foreign man left a message saying (incomprehensible name) was wanted for tax fraud and evasion and they would like me to call before this case is turned into my local police department.
- PDhe leaves me a message saying he is calling from the criminal investigation bureau and his name is Officer Brown, federal badge #1363, and there is a bench warrant that was just issued for my arrest. however, before he transfers it to my local police, i need to call him back. If not, then i will be arrested, and they will take action against my property. Of course when i call the number back, the recording says, 'you have reached the criminal investigation department of the IRS'... The lengths these damn scammers go through to convince you it's legit business!
- JCS| 1 replyjust left message on my machine, saying I was being investigated and a warrant for my arrest will be sent to my local law office. Claiming to be an officer Jim Auther. This is not the first time, it happened a couple months ago also, when I told him " a few unpleasant things" he called me "F-ing B-tch"Total bull and have no idea who to report it to.

- MMO| 1 replyI got the same call as PD. Since I ignore calls from numbers I don't recognize, I just laughed through the message he left. It didn't help that the scammer waited until 6:04 pm to call. We also know how many investigators work after hours! NOT!
- Caller: ????
- Call type: Prank
- MidNYteStorm replies to MMOThat is what I would do. It is not as if screaming will put an end to the calls. Like you I ignore these calls. But if I did answer one of these telemaggoters that threatened to send the police, I would probably tell them I will be here waiting for them to arrive.
- Beth replies to R. coI got a similar call last night. Well he left a message.
- anonymous| 1 replytotal scam to get u to call back then they ask for money. it was strange but it didn't surprise me that the IRS would hire a non-English speaking nasty person. welcome to America. please stop these morons.
- CWG40 replies to anonymousYour callers are hard core Indian or Pakistani scammer/extortionists. Ignore them and block their calls.
- Ellen galleryCaller said they had a warrant for my arrest but wanted to discuss case before they issued it to the state police to pick me up at my residence. When I returned the call the voice mail said it was the IRS in D.C.. I left a message to send the lads over I'll have a pot of coffee ready we could have a nice visit!!! Haven't had such a good laugh in a long time. Two days before guy with thick accent called and said he had a limited search warrant to be issued by the FBI. Good thing I have a couple of days off because by these clowns account my place is going to be full of guys in uniform. I guess I had better spiff up a bit!!!!
- YLYD| 1 replyGot a call from this number. Called back, heard a message "the manic jet customer u called is not available"; then they called me back; I still wasn't sure what it was but fortunately didn't give away any information. Then googled the number. Thanks to all who posted. Someone should be investigating these people.
- Tamianth replies to YLYDMost of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. Not much we can do to shut these scam operations down. Your best bet is a call blocker.

Came home to a recording along the lines of what others have said in previous posts - that a warrant was to be issued in my name for my address and that I would soon be arrested.
Why would the police be foolish enough to tip off a criminal to an impending warrant being issued? I thought the police would simply show up at my door, serve/arrest me and indicate that I 'Should tell it to the judge".
If I were a criminal, this call would prompt my investment in a ticket to 'whereabouts unknown'.- Caller: Sounded like CBI?
- BeanieLocal version of Nigerian scam. Lots of chatter in the background. Foreign accent. Read my name correctly as if he was seeing it for the first time. Called ID = Unknown Name. Should have ignored but had to research. Hope this monkey and his monkey friends choke on a banana.

I ended up giving information and when I had to get it and call back came up Criminal Investigation and panicked more - unfortunately gave them the information - just ordered four boxes of checks I have to shred and had to change my bank accounts and other stuff. Tried calling five times on Saturday but I didn't answer and hopefully gave up.

IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
Never wire money to someone you do not know personally. Beware and take care. If they hit you once, they sure going to try to hit you again. These people pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community. Never call them back. Block their calls. Ignore them.
