Just received call at 8am from this unknown number.

Called number back and was cursed out by a guy with a deep accent. He told me to go f*ck myself when I would not give him my name. The voicemail said it was from the attorney generals office and I was a damn scumbag for talking to him and that I wa sa piece of sh!Qt.

My wife received a message from a James Patterson from some "Department of Legal Affairs" stating that he needed to be contacted at this number before legal procedures started against her.  She called the number and James reported to her that I was going to be arrested.  Never said why or what agency he actually worked for.  My wife responded to James that he made her laugh at the fact that her husband was going to be arrested.  James called my wife a [***] and hung up!

this number keeps on calling and calling and calling....same message that the attorney general is going to take action against me.  LOL

Foreigner called from this number asked for my husband I asked to take a message he proceeds to tell me there is an legal action against my husbands name from an officer when I asked the officers name he got mad & irritated! SCAM!!!!!!!!

Continuing scam. Call from James Patten for the Dept. of Legal Affairs. Of course, didn't say dept of legal affairs of what. Ignored him.

Guy Kevin Green (fake) called using my maiden name. I've been married for 5 years so I played along. Asked him questions, he got frustrated when he realized I was onto him. He then said I had an arrest warrant for 6 months in jail for tax evasion and an officer would be at my physical address within 45 minutes to take me in. Lol. K.

called stating that there was a legal action. When I called to tell them it was a wrong number and asked for more information and that I would like to have proof that this was a ligit call since we had been receiving scam calls they said they would contact the person at another number and hung up

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Got a call from some fake Adam Walker  with a strong foreign accent, claiming to be from the Dpt. of Legal Affairs (???) Demanding that I call them before they exercise a legal action against my name.
These evil characters are trying to scam good peeps out of their hard earned money....

Got a call this morning 5:45am- What the heck. They left a message saying it was the attorney general and we needed to call back right now.

Don't bother returning the call.  It is NOT the attorney general & it is illegal to claim to be an attorney or government official.  Check Wolfman Jack's  post a few lines above yours.

Same story happened to me today not once but twice. Do not fall into their trap.

SOB's called me at 6:45 AM and woke me out of a sound sleep--lowlife creeps!  Same bogus "attorney general" scam message described by others was left on my answering machine.  Deleted the message and added the number to my block list on my Panasonic call blocking phone.  Thank God for modern technology!

Scam call. Stopped by my local PD to report. Googled it. Sure enough, scam.
