- SomeGuy| 2 repliesI got the tax scam phone call from this number today (13 May 2015). They are getting it more and more polished all the time. The caller had a New York accent, not a foreign one. He provided my home address and asked why I have not responded to correspondence sent to that address. (The reason is because I received no such mail, of course). He said my past 7 years of tax returns all have errors or fraud and will be audited. Most importantly, he said he was faxing a warrant for my arrest to local law enforcement within about 45 minutes. At one point he did ask if I could afford a lawyer or if I needed one to be appointed. I told him I could hire my own lawyer. LOL, probably a mistake; now he'll take my bluff to heart and think I am Daddy Warbucks, sell my info to all sorts of scammers.
Interestingly, this guy told me my alleged failure to file correctly was treasonous and a violation of the laws of the Constitution. That was special.
This caller did not ask for money. I expect I will receive a call from someone purporting to be local law enforcement soon. That person will go ahead and run the money pitch on me.- Caller: Clamed to be IRS
- Dan replies to SomeGuySimilar message here, female accented voice purported to "IRS charges and other issues will be pressed against me" Number they called came from my CV posted online. ...LOL. Anyone gets similar idiocy, just ignore it, clearly they are targeting silly people that can not put two and two together. .
- MAD| 1 replyCalled my college student claiming to be IRS Collection Agent, stating there were 3 warrants out for her arrest for filing false tax returns. Said my daughter did not have any right to an attorney and the local police were being notified! It was VERY BAD and horribly upsetting to a student who has never been required to file a tax return yet! Woman said her name was Sharon Narton but had a foreign accent. Have reported it to local law enforcement.
- Caller: IRS Collections Agent (supposedly)
- Buster Crepe05-13-15 ..Phone call from the number today. Jake Johnson who spoke with some accent, but clearly understood him. He was from the IRS Investigative Services. There were perjury charges being considered against me. I should call him right away so he could help make these charges go away before I wind up going to a Federal Prison for tax fraud. Yeah..OK.. Let me get right on that. These idiots don't scare me, but they sure do make me angry.
- Caller: IRS Collections Agent (supposedly)
- Wow| 1 replyJust got the same call.
The "agent" scolded me for not repeating the "case number" she had just stated to me. I said I don't need to and she started getting upset. I asked for her agent number and she stated some numbers. I asked, "did you just make that up" and she didn't know what to say. I'm an attorney...so I said you know you just called a law firm and that your phone number is posted all over the internet...and then she hung up. - GARY C replies to WowJust got the same phone call for NY City.
- IRSGot the call several times. He said he was from IRS Investigative Services but he did not even know my actual name.
- DanNext time they call, ask her for agent badge number which every IRS agent has... IRS guideliness arre:
You receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS but you suspect they are not an IRS employee ...
Record the employee's name, badge number, call back number and caller ID if available.
Call 1-800-366-4484 to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you.
If the person calling you is an IRS employee, call them back.
If not, report the incident to TIGTA and to us at phishing@irs.gov (Subject: 'IRS Phone Scam')- Caller: Slimeballs
- Dan
- Wow| 2 repliesI called back and they actually do pick up and answer as "Investigative Services of the IRS". A man with an accent. Funny thing is you hear all these other people in background with accents probably making these calls. Someone should give them a taste of their own medicine and say "This is the FBI!"
- Dan replies to WowThey are probably making these calls from beyond US borders where FBI or IRS have no jurisdiction..Waste of time to call these slimeballs.
- HaHaMy husband got a phone call asking for me. He knew right away that it was the IRS Scam and asked what this was about. The woman responded "This is the IRS..." He interrupted her and said LOUDLY "This is the IRS SCAM BS?" She immediately hung up!!! LMAO!!!
And yes, she's definitely from another country (somewhere Middle Eastern...)
GO ROT IN HELL!!!- Caller: Scam artist
- HaHa replies to WowNext time they call me, I will do JUST that!!! 3:)
- SomeGuy replies to MADMan, that is the worst. I can picture myself being back in college, legally an adult but really still figuring out a lot about how the adult world works (to include tax filings). I can imagine if I'd gotten a call like this at that age, it would have really shaken me up as I would have 100% believed it to be genuine back then.
I really wish I could meet these folks face to face. I'd be happy to do a little dental work on them, free of charge. - LilyMay-13-2015
This guy left a voice-mail, he said he is IRS investigator and there is a warrant under my name. Blah blah... Total Scam!!!
These people has no shame and should be arrested!!! - HeheSame situation. The call is from 347-535-4870.
- Hehe replies to SomeGuyMy experience is 99% the same today. The only difference is that I told the caller I can't afford a lawyer. Then she told me if I pay 4XXX dollars they will not report to the police and I will not go to the court.
- ScaredAll same. I figured out it was a fraud and hang up, but they remain calling and leaving voice mails for a month. I added all that numbers to black list, and next day I got call from CT where same male voice with accent. So they are definitely located outside the USA and just use fake phone addresses.
- Caller: FRAUD
