My wife got a message on her a cell phone saying they were the "Internal Revenue Service" and telling her to call back to avoid arrest, She foolishly did so.  The man who answered spoke with an Indian or Pakistani accent and claimed to be an IRS agent, named "John." Thankfully, she didn't supply any information.  And I have since blocked the number on her phone using Mister Number.  Obviously these are crooks trying to scam naive people into revealing personal information or sending them money.  Not sure whether or call really originated from NYC or from Asia.

I have been receiving these calls also, it says it is NY and then the recording gives me a number they want me to call. I have called both numbers and they are exactly how you say, I am so tired of scammers, they have called me 4 times already today.

I received this call at 10:25am today too. Can some one please stop the caller ASAP?

Called from India on unknown number with this number as the call back number. Called back and claimed they were IRS.

They left a message stating that I need to retain a lawyer immediately, because this is a time sensitive issue. The automated message never left a name or  what this was regarding, as far as I know, I don't have an "issue" that warrants a lawyer.

I asked specific questions and the guy with Indian accent just hanged up on me.... he wanted all of my info... I wish they get shut down or caught doing this....

I just got a call from this number telling me that the IRS is going to put a lean on my property if I didn't call them right away. What a joke. That's why I checked the number on the web.
