Received message regarding a non-description 'legal issue' requiring immediate attention and that I was to return call.  Bogus!

Rec'd call from this number. Said I was in legal trouble. I said I was calling the police and he hung up...

Just got a call form this number advising that legalmaction was being taken against my husband for some unknown reason.  He was to return the call immediately

A rehearsed American female voice left 2 message saying to call back now regarding legal issues.  I called back, didn't get through and called back again and got a man with an Indian type accent saying he was from the Federal Dept of Legal New York.  He somehow knew my first name.  I gave him a ear-full.  so bogus!!!

i received a message from this number with a similar content to other posters.  I am not calling back and hope no one else does either.

When I asked who they were calling for over this legal matter they said my daughter. I told them she was 10 years old and then they said my husband. This is a total scam. Don't call back your wasting your time.

I have gotten 3 calls so far today from this number and an 888 phone number. They say they are with US Treasury Department and said they were sending an Agent to my house to arrest me because I said some nasty remarks to them. There seems to a group of them pulling off the same scam so be careful!! I have filled out a form at the US Treasury web site for scam so let's see if that helps!!

Received a call last night on the answering machine from someone named Michael, with a heavy Indian or Middle Eastern accent, from US Legal (?) stating that my wife, who they mentioned by name, would be in legal trouble unless she called back soon.  I picked up the phone and asked what this was about.  They gave a rehearsed statement about having sent 3 letters, which we never received, and that legal action would be taken if she did not call back soon and speak to the agent.  I said I would have my attorney call, to which they said fine.  I hung up and found numerous similar complaints about getting a similar call from this phone number.  My wife contacted the Police and the Attorney General's office today to file complaints about this scam.  I haven't seen any posts about the details of the scam, however.

Call from this number looking for my son regarding tax issue against him. Told him that he had to talk to his boss Uncle Sam my son is in the military. Then this person started to argue with me saying that I had to pay money for him,I asked him if this was a good issue he said yes ,I told him that he could take it and shove it you know where the sun don't shine. These people must be stupid thinking I was going to fall for his line of BS.

Same message about legal issue..recording...Remember IRS sends letters out and DO NOT CONTACT you by phone...I glad people have reported this the IRS wants to know about these scammers!

Caller from this number said my husband was in legal trouble, gave Him a piece of my kind, called number back as he told me to do, and no one answered rings constantly reported to police and attny general ofc.  Told him this was not true and I hung up.

left 2 voice mails on our answering machine. we knew this was not legit. we did not call back

A person named Michael ...left a voice message on my voice mail for my daughter saying he was from the Legal Department and proceedings were filed against her, and she should contact him at this number and if she did not he advised her to hire an attorney.  Heavy Indian Accent...trying to speak with an American accent.  What a scam!!!!

Same thing as other reports. Call from someone named Michael Anderson with a heavy Indian accent saying he was from the Dept. of Legal Services and a legal action had been started in my husband's name. Advised him to call back or have his attorney call back. We didn't call back. Definitely a scam of some sort.

The way the scam works, the scammer will give you a chance to buy your way out of trouble, but you have to pay right this second.  You have to give the scammer your bank account number or credit card number.  Or you have to buy a green dot card right now.  Or you have to send money by Western Union right now.  The scammer takes all of your money and vanishes.

A woman's voice, (recorded). left a voice message, requesting a return call, stating it was concerning a legal matter. It was from 347 927 8986. It would be great if these criminals were caught and prosecuted.

I also received multiple calls from the following number (347-927-4986). The last time they told me that if I do not call ASAP a warrant will be issued and I'll be arrested by the police !!!  My question is: Why the Police or other law offices do not investigate those calls since they occurred to many people and they continue to occur  ???

What can they do when the calls come from overseas and are disguised with dummy numbers?

Federal authorities are looking into this scam.  But, without the cooperation  of the Indian and Pakistani governments, there isn't much they can do.   I read of at least one case where an Indian scammer was arrested in the US.  But getting them at the source is not possible right now.  So far as I know.

The people of India, simply have had it in their genes for centuries, to be those of thieves and scammers. All of the decent people of other countries, can do, is to be on the alert for the Patel crooks.
