call came from  253-210-6601,he had a bad accent (hard to understand)but the caller said because I pay taxes on time and don't have bankruptcies and I am good citizen and have a job, he said I came out on top in a neighborhood survey, only few people received this offer but the United States government wants to give me $9000 dollars as a grant and I did not have to pay it back.  He kept telling me that I cannot use the money for bad things , like drugs, alcohol  and gambling, I must use it for only good , like buy a new car, fix up my house, pay bills. Three ways to collect my money, 2 of which they wanted to deposit it directly into my bank account. He seemed to know that I would say no to that, so the 3rd way was for them to wire it to Western Union so I could pick it up there. But I have to call this number first 360-244-4592  to speak to his accounts manager and he gave me a cash confirmation # MN 745, do not tell anyone that number, very important. But I have to call his manager and follow his directions exactly, because there are rules and guidelines I must follow and do them correctly. After I said okay , he kept making me repeat the numbers and I had to call right away as soon as we hung up . When I did not call right away, someone called me from the same # . This time I did not pick it up. I did not give him my name or phone or address he had all of those things already, he told me what they were. He did ask for my age and I advised him that its not nice to ask a lady her age, so I gave him a wrong age(so he could not figure out my actual date of birth) .. that's my story, sorry it so long...

So I had the same call and they called my work number (I did not correct them). Knowing it is a scam my office thought it would be funny to go thru and see what would happen. SO they go thru everything and then you have to register your money in you name for a fee of $210 and you will receive that back this is so you dont have to pay taxes on it. Hello didn't you just say that I was receiving this for paying my taxes. HAHAHA like I really am going to give you money or my bank info to get this your crazy.

I just recently received a call from this Scam and it's everything you described. The first time someone called me from Long Beach, Washington and the lady had a bad accent. But she gave me a confirmation code and gave me a list of options to claim my grant. I have been trying to take out a loan to go back to school and these people called me saying that the loan was a grant to go back to school. They said that I needed to have money in my account for the one time $230 so that I wouldn't have to pay back the IRS in taxes. And stupid me believed them and gave them my age and my bank account number and even the name of my bank. I told them that I didn't have any money. Maybe like $20 in my account and even said I don't get paid until Friday. STUPID. I'm an idiot and now they could probably open up credit cards in my name....

They called me from the same number and I gave them all the incorrect information.

I just got a call from this same number and they were hard to understand, and when I questioned the lady about what US Government she worked with and how did she have information about my taxes but cant tell me the company she started studdering, so I told her this is a scam she insisted it wasn't, so I call the number she gave me for the fun of it, and I was put on hold at first then she said someone will call me back and all other stuff when I told the lady I know this is a scam she hung up on me fast.

I had exactly the same experience as the first person. I have been getting calls on my cell phone number about a $9000 govt. grant which I promptly cut off.
The last time I went through the whole spiel. It was a lady with an Indian accent, who told me that because of my excellent record of paying my taxes on time and not having any criminal record, the government was rewarding 1500 lucky individuals like me a grant of $9000 to do as we pleased as long as it was not used for anything illegal.
I asked her why she was calling me on my cell phone line as all my transactions with the government and the IRS had my home phone number. She said this is the number that they had.
She asked me my age. I told her again that the government had this information. I asked her what my address was and she gave me the wrong address. She then asked me if I wanted to correct the information and I said no.
I then said I didn't think that the US Govt. employed Indian call centers. She said that she was calling from the US and that she was a US citizen. She gave me my email address as a way of telling me that she had all my information, however she pronounced @ as "at the rate of" as is commonly used in India instead of "at" as used in the US.
She gave me her supervisor's number saying that he would sort things out as she was a new hire and did not have all the answers.
The number she gave was 360-244-4592 and she gave me a conformation number with two alpha letters and 123 after that.
I promptly called the number 1-866-653-4261 which I found on the web page http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams, and then called the do not call registry at 1-888-382-1222.

Just received same call...verbatim...scumbags!!!!  Hope some elderly person does not fall for this trick..going to the IRS website and file a complaint.

It's scam I guess
The number 360-244-4592 call me today and want me call her back she introduced her self as the internal revenue agent to investigate on my tax
I call back and ask is this internal revenue phone number she'd say yes you are talking to the Internal Revenue Service agent right now I see you phone number is ........I say yes. What is your Last name? I say you should have my name I can not tell you my name I'm afraid it's a scam She said I want you right info to give you a code I told her internal revenue has my address please what you want to my address I will follow what to do.

Just received voicemail from 366-244-4592. Computer voice said an Arrest Warrant has been issued from IRS and that it is a "non-bailable" warrant. My T-Mobile phone showed it as a "SCAM" so I didn't answer.
