One or two calls for the last week. The last time I heard the "this is a service verification" message.

Verafast shows up on caller id.  I answered this morning & it was someone trying to sell me additional services for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.  This is a service that the Minneapolis Star Tribune uses.  I verified this by calling the Star Tribune and I let the Tribune know that when you call the number back you get a residence.  Someone is tapping into a resident's home phone to make these calls.

anyone know what happens if you answer and quick hang up before the robot routs your call to a human? does that establish a business relationship? does that screw up their database?

I called it back after recieving calls, but no messages, nearly every weekday.  All calls came in around 10am (don't they realize most people work?).  Only option when calling back is to remove your number from the list.

If it is the Star Trib, as this board indicates, then it is no wonder this paper is failing.  If you can't effectively run a contact center (or work with a competent vendor) and have enough sense to leave a message or at the very least indentfy your business when people call you back, then you do not stand a chance.

I think the Pioneer Press may be a better option or prehaps I'll stick to digital news.

Same thing here - several times a day and no meesage. I finally called back and a robot answered and the first thing it said was "to be removed from our call list, enter your phone number". Said it would take 2 business days to go into effect.

I might answer it tomorrow just to see what's going on. I do subscribe to the Star Tribune so that I wouldn't be surprised if it is them.

Called this evening.  I don't answer calls when I don't know who the caller is (caller id showed Olympia, WA).  They let the phone ring long enough for VM to pick up, but no message was left.  

Oh if this the Minneapolis StarTrib calling to pester me again, they are in serious trouble... They've been told NOT to call me about adding additional service.  I only get the paper on Sat & Sun, and am toying with the idea of cancelling Sat.  Not much in it that I can't get online.  God I hate telemarketing!

I just started receiving calls from this number this week. I never get a person just a recording. If this is truly from the star trib we will be canceling our sub this week.

I went through the Minneapolis Star Tribune's customer service link since I'm a subscriber and complained about the telemarketing calls I've been receiving.  The acknowledged the company, but claimed they use it for when the paper will be stopped for past-due payment.  Funny, my daily subscription is paid up for another month.

They offered to take me off the calling list, which stopped for a couple of days but has started up again.  I'm giving some serious thoughts about dropping them if it is a way to send a message regarding their telemarketing company.

This number has been calling almost every day and leaves no message. I don't answer answer the phone if I do NOT know who is calling, ESPECIALLY numbers with area codes that I know are out of state or those 800, 877, etc, numbers. These calls mainly have been coming in during daytime hours when I am at work and it is really annoying. After finding this page and finding out that it is the Star Tribune (for solicitation purposes), I have called the number and was given the option to remove my telephone number, which I did. The system stated it takes 2 days to become effective. After that, if I receive any more calls, I will be contact the Star Tribune locally and persueing this matter more if this doesn't stop. When I signed up for the Star Tribune, it was to receive their "Sunday" paper only. My phone number was to be used for tracking purposes if there was a problem with my billing or service, NOT to be used (or given to another source) for telemarketing purposes. Shame on you Star Tribune for disrupting my important, busy life for nonsense.

I have gotten a few calls from this number and it comes up 'verafast' on my caller ID.  I do not subscribe to the star tribune and i am on the do not call list.  ha.  like that has really worked.  I don't know what they want and I wont be answering anytime soon...
I despise telemarketers.

Get this call almost every day, they leave a cryptic half message. My cell is by the minute, so I get charged to answer the call or check my messages. [***].

How do you stop them from calling?  They have called multiple times over many days.

I've been receiving regular annoyance calls from VERIFAST. They leave no message and disconnect as soon as I answer.   How do you stop these low-lifes?

Get calls from 360-464-9953,  VARIFAST.   everyday.    I don't answer nor will I ever answer--so stop calling!

Same situation for me as with most of the other people posting on here.  I just subscribe to the Sunday Star Tribune.  Over the last two years I have received countless solicitation calls (actual people) from Star Trib.  The calls from this 360-464-9953 number only started a month or two ago and they are annoying.   I'm looking into just blocking this number from my phone.  Hopefully that works... at least for now...
