- James| 6 repliesDo anyone recognize this number? Supposedly, legal action will be taken against me. It has to be a scam because I'm not sure who would want to take legal action against me.
- Irate| 1 replyObviously this is not the IRS but how do you stop these people?

- CharlesCalled this number back because I had a message left about lawsuit IRS has against me. When I asked his name he told me it was Officer Shawn Williams. When I told him that I researched the number and it had been reported as a scam, he hung up on me. If it were it IRS and they had a lawsuit against me, I don't think I would be hung up on! Definitely a scam!!
- bobCNBC has an article today on IRS scams,
which includes a 45 second audio recording from this phone number.
"Listen in on a tax scam purporting to be from the IRS." - LarryGot the same number as below/above. Must be a scam! No answer when I called the number. Wanted to play with them a mess them up, but no answer.
- Patrick replies to James| 3 repliesI received the message too. It's a scam. Don't waste your time.
I received a voicemail today from telephone number, (914) 271-9628. An automated recording said, "Hello, this call is officially final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately, on our department number: (360) 851-1764, I repeat (360) 851-1764. Thank you."
I called the number on the recording. A man that sounded, to me, to be of Indian descent, answered, "Internal Revenue Service". I told him my name and that I received an automated message to call with regards to a lawsuit. He then asked me what the number was, that I received the message on. I gave my cell number. He asked if I was Patrick (last name) and if I lived at an address that I haven't lived at in over 7 years (my W2 had my current address this year and I've completed my voter registration for my address). I told him that I am Patrick Parton, however my address had changed several times. I did NOT provide my new address & he didn't ask for it. I asked for more information about the suit and he asked me to get a pen so I did. He informed me his name was Attorney Alex Watson, badge ID #: 3927, my case number: 265114225 & amount of the suit: $3250.00. I asked him why I was being sued. He said it was for miscalculations, discovered in my tax filing audits from 2008-2012 (I've been audited in one of those years & H&R Block informed me of this, just before receiving written notice, in the mail, at an address that I lived at, after the address that he recited to me). He said that I could take care of this now or that I would take it to trial. I told him that I wouldn't be taking care of anything today, however he could drop a copy of any of the info in the mail and also forward a copy to me via fax/e-mail for me to review and I will follow up with him. He disconnected. I called back and got an "all circuits are busy" automated recording & busy signal. I called again, and as soon as I identified myself, the person disconnected & blocked my number. I called again, several times, and got a busy signal. - A.BThey called me twice, just ignored. Scam!!!!
- PJ360-851-1764 is a scam pretending to be a recording from the IRS saying the IRS is suing you. Do not call the number, note the time and date, and report it to the FBI online, and forget about it. They want to investigate those scams and shut them down. It's what they do.
The call is a lie and attempt at theft. The IRS does not make phone calls threatening lawsuits. This is nothing more than a thief in organized crime trying to trick you into calling a toll number and getting your private information in order to steal your assets or take out credit cards in your name. If the IRS has a problem with someone they will send official letters in the mail.- Caller: IRS (fake)
- Robert replies to PatrickI justed received the same call. I know it's a scam, seen a report on local news about this scam
- Really?Received a robo message from 607-734-9187 instructing me to call 360-851-1764 because it was my final warning of the IRS filing a lawsuit against me. I called and a man with an Indian accent answered the phone and identified himself as the IRS. I said I was calling because you're filing a lawsuit against me? Then he said "YES I AM, YOU [***]" and hung up on me. I have reported it to http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml Unbelievable world we live in. Creeps.
