I got a voicemail saying only 'RS is filing a lawsuit against you, call this number for more info on this case file' and no case file number was given. I called the number asking for information, was given none, only asked my name in an accent i could hardly understand, and when i repeated that they called me and asked for their name they only asked me for mine and would give no information.

I got a computer-generated voice saying "This is our final attempt to reach you.  The IRS is filing a lawsuit against you, call this number for more information."  And like Joseph above,  no case file number was given, just this number (360) 861-4105.  So I went right to the Internet to see what this was all about and sure enough, it's B.S.  They probably want to pump the elderly for personal information by sounding official and threatening.  Thereafter, this fake IRS whatever will drain hardworking people of their savings.

I received the same phone message apparently a few seconds after you,   IRS will send something in the mail to your house.   Not contact you by phone.  This is completely a scam.

My son got a call, same thing....fake IRS scam saying they are filing a case.. calling us a criminal and etc...and they were going to continue with a lawsuit.

worked my anger management son worked up.....great..... what fun....I wish these guys would be tossed in a turkish prsion.

but instead there is no punishment, theres not enough government "scam" chasers!

Same as below...poser IRS Scam

I had 2 messages one from this number and one from 360-861-4117. The person that answered didn't speak very good English so I asked for someone who did. I could hear people in the background. I asked for s supervisor, none came on the line. Also said that this wasn't the IRS because it wasn't a 800 number.

Two calls today 4/1/2015 from 360-861-4105 and 360-861-4117 both messages the same, IRS is filing a lawsuit against me and I need to call to find out the details.  Of course, I didn't call them back - IRS would not call, they would not e-mail, they would send a letter.

Same thing happened to me.  First a phone call followed by a voicemail.  Last attempt by them "before IRS filed a lawsuit against me."  Did a reverse phone number lookup.  It is nothing but a SCAM.  Has absolutely nothing to do with IRS.  Unfortunately these scammers prey on people, trying to intimidate and scare them in order to get personal info such as SS #⃣ or credit card info.  Hang up on them.  Hit delete.  The real IRS would NEVER call you on the phone.

Same as above, it was a recorded message saying this is final attempt (meanwhile this was the only call I ever got) to call the IRS at the 360-861-4105 number but no case number given. I didn't call bc I looked it up first, it didn't seem right.

10:50 am same thing. Said, "we have been trying to reach you. " we pay our taxes. The irs knows how to reach us and they never do it by phone. Don't fall for it!

I received the same message from  360-861-4105.  Why not get CONGRESS to pass a bill and go after these
scammers and throw them in jail where they belong.  They also appear to be going after the elderly who fall for these scams and lose their money.

Congress has passed a bill and they do pursue the scammers, the problem is the scammers are hardly ever in the US.  They run these massive call centers in India, Pakistan and just about all the other 3rd world countries they can.  It costs pennies for what they pay their phone rats and even getting 1 payment a week has them making big money.

The only reason I even bothered looking this up is this is the 1st time I've personally got an IRS call.  I normally get the bull crap solar power, or "Rachel from cardholder services".

this goes on our auto-block so that it never gets answered again.

I got a call, telling me the call was a "final notice" before they filed a lawsuit & to call this number.  Essentially the same as the descriptions above, although I did not call the number, as it set off red flags in my head, immediately.

The thing that made me suspicious, right off the bat, was that they claimed to be the IRS, the Internal Revenue Services, note the 's', making it plural.  Someone affiliated with the real IRS wouldn't make that mistake.

The next thing was that this was the only communication I had received, in any form, about a supposed lawsuit, or IRS debt.  I know, from experience, that if they think you owe them, they will send letters, first.

That's when I jumped on Google & wound up here.  After seeing similar reports, I checked the IRS website out & came across a press release dealing with this type of thing.  I'll quote from their recommendations:

  * You can file a complaint using the FTC Complaint Assistant**; choose “Other” and then “Imposter Scams.” If the complaint involves someone impersonating the IRS, include the words “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes."

The TIGTA is the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.  For those of you wanting the government to do something, these are the people you need to notify.

Hi, all, and thank you for posting.  got the same call, same phone number this morning.  All of your posts are very helpful and reassuring and I think you all for posting.  Even though I know, from previous experience, that the IRS will always send a letter if there's a problem, I did experience a few minutes of angst and at my age that's not good.  thank you, Alex, for your info and I will file a complaint.

I had a recording that the IRS was going to file lawsuit against me.  I knew it was a scam so I had some fun with the idiots.  I called their number and some Hindu answers claiming to be Officer Ronnie Williams (yeah right!  An Indian named Ronnie Williams).  I lied and said that my name was John.  He asked for my home number that I first lied about but it pulled up nothing, so I gave him my actual home number.  He gave my actual home address but my wrong last name.  He listed a bunch of threats that the police would come and seize things and I would lose my drivers license.  I would be sued and face 5 years imprisonment.

He claimed that I did something between 2008 to 2012 and asked me why I would do that.  He then asked what I thought or something to that fact and that was when I said, "I think this is a bunch of bull."  This is when the so-called IRS officer said, "Well go Fu** yourself" and hung up on me.  I laughed my ass off but decided to call him back.  Again, Ronnie answered the phone and that was when I unloaded a bunch of four letter words for him and informed him that we do know they are a scam.  Another guy answers claiming that he answered the phone and I was screaming at him as he was not that other guy.  I told him that I heard a Hindu answer the phone and can tell the difference between him (American accent) and the Indian accent.  I heard Ronnie laugh and that is when I said, "There's Ronnie."

I warmly extended an invitation (threat) if they would like to come personally to my house as I have no tolerance for scumbags who prey off the innocent.

Prank these people daily!!!  Call them and let them have it.

Just wanted to update my previous post, as I had posted here, before calling the TIGTA.

While you can stay on the line & report by phone, before you actually speak to anyone they give a website you can use to file the report, as well.  It is: http://www.tigta.gov

There is a yellow block, just under the page header, labelled "Scam Alert".  Click on the "contact us" link in that block & it will take you to a form to fill out.  Pretty basic, quick & easy.

This is a p.s. to my above comment.  I typed in the last name that they claimed was associated with this lawsuit.  There is a man between the age 60-64 that used the same phone number years ago.  The only problem is that these dumb [***] or so-called IRS officers failed to make sure that the name went with the street address.  This John (not my real name but I got lucky with claiming my name was John as it happened to be that other man's name who once shared my phone number) lived at a different address.

If you call them be sure to say hi to Ronnie Williams the scam artist.  I'm tempted to call them again and use a different number because the first number I attempted to use was a California Health Club.  I am guessing that they will have your name and address when you give them your home phone number so I might pull out a name from the phone book and see what happens.

I contacted the IRS and have reported them to another number they had me call.  The IRS does not send out threatening phone calls but you will receive letters if they are after you.  I know that from experience because I had to pay for 2011.  When dumb-ass Ronnie claimed that I did something in 2008 is when I KNEW I was dealing with a scammer.

I just hope everyone has the smarts to check out the number first before getting scammed.

Oh no, I'm scared. I was laughing when I got the call. It's totally unbelievable what they say in the message.
