3/23-Got a voice mail from Officer Tammy White at the IRS and for me to call back. I did not and will not call back. The IRS corresponds by letter not by phone. Has to be a prank or scammer.

I got garbled message on my cell phone saying to call about tax fraud

Received an automated call with the message stating that legal charges for tax fraud are being filed against me that the IRS needed me to call the # provided ASAP (1st RED FLAG)
I then called the number back and a man with a heavy accent (possibly Indian)(2nd RED FLAG) answered immediately. (3rd RED FLAG) He asked what number I was calling from and if it was a cell & my name. I asked him what company he was with & he replied "No company is IRS" (4th RED FLAG) & again asked my name & #. I asked for his name & told him I was the owner of the # he called. He told me his name was 'Daniel' & asked if I was ??????????? I answersed & challenged what this was about as I have "NO TAX LIABILITY" & with that he hung up. When I attempted to call back all I got was a busy signal. (5th RED FLAG)

Got a call also! Don't call back it is a scammer! A man in Baton Rouge is out $2,000.00!!

Got the same call - Tammy White - It is a voice synthesis machine talking telling me the same message about tax fraud and to call back.  I did not call back as this is clearly a scam call.  If you get this call, you should ignore it.

I got message from machine voice saying that Audit Dept. from IRS bla bla bla...So far that I know IRS will send a letter before they call us. Watch out this number.

They called me twice on my cell phone. Almost could not understand but man's voice said something about IRS. Gave phone to my husband and when he spoke they hung up. Called the number back and got a different voice and when they heard our voices, they hung up.

Obviously scammers!

I got a call with a recorded message saying it was a message for me from Officer Patty White of the fraud division of the IRS and to call back.  I called it back because I didn't want to ignore a call from the IRS and after I called it and a woman with a foreign accent answered the phone and didn't seem to know who Patty White was right away I immediately got suspicious.  I then calmed down and realized I would have gotten some kind of notice from the IRS before anything at all happened and decided to see where the number originated.  Whew!

I got the same call. It was a recorded message after I listened to it the 2nd time. The IRS corresponds by letter not by a phone call. It is a SCAM. I got the message today. Also it was barely audible that was another clue.

3-26-15 Just so you know ! I got a garbled message from these people and I made out the phone number. Called them ( I know Dumb Ass) and the 1st time the guy rambled so fast I did not understand him and  I told him I could not understand him and of coarse he did not speak english at all! I thought we got disconnected but now I am thinking he hung up! So I called back got a 2nd guy WHO DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH verry well told him I did not understand a word he said and got disconnected. so then I decided to look the phone number up and Here I am letting you all know it must be a scam They must of thought I was an little old lady or something!

These people are relentless.  I've received calls from (360) 861-4117 [Tammy White | Elma, WA] on my personal cell, my corporate cell, my home number and my wife's cell number.  Total scam.  Not sure where they got them all from but I've blocked them all.

Left message. Message started in the middle, muffled automated sounding deep voice. Repeated phone number a couple times and I understood the word IRS but nothing else was intelligible. SCAM---the IRS does NOT call on the phone!

I just received the same call - for the second time - both times let it ring through to voicemail. This is certainly a scam. We recently recieved notice that the Anthem (BC/BS Anthem) healthcare database had been hacked and information compromised. We're wondering if it could be related to this.

There is that possibility, as these criminals are selling hacked information on the internet black market.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

I received a call today at 5 pm with a woman voice said, "I'm calling from Tax Department of IRS and they will charge you with your name about Tax Fraud..." And asked me to call her back with the number 360-861- 4117. The voice sounded a little seriously. I did a research and I found this website, which was helpful. Thank you! There are many people have received a same call that i have. It tells me that the number 360- 861-4117 is a scam number.

caller was Elma WA. Blocked the number right away

Just got this same message. I immediately googled the # and saw all the folks comments about how fraudulent this SCAM is. I warned my co-workers right away. I will also make sure that family knows.

Also - the call reads as 'from' ELMA, WA - the # was 1-360-861-4117

Received a call @ 2:12 P.M. from 360-861-4117 which was a recording telling me to call back to avoid tax fraud. 27 minutes later I received an identical call from 723-599-6504. I have found out that the 2nd number is not a valid number and that the caller "spoofed" caller ID

Had message from Tammy White on my answering machine, something about fraud, loan, IRS, and what not, but it was clearly some kind of computerized voice, and it was so garbled that despite listening to it half a dozen times I did not understand the 360 part. So i just googled the last 7 numbers and got here. If it quacks like a scam, it usually is a scam.
