It's the Consumer Svcs credit card scammers again. They have a new number, so those who block the name instead of the phone number were successful in blocking the call. Whatever you do should you decide to answer the call, do not give them real personal/credit card information. Instead, have some fun with them, waste their time and laugh at them. This is free entertainment.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

This alleged number called and I allowed them to be introduced to the answering system.

It is also great way of telling them that you are willing to entertain them and will likely increase the number of calls received.

    They are making me crazy.
These are credit card scammers.  They had a different number that they were calling me from (about 5x a day for years) and even the Do Not Call list wouldn't make them stop.  I did an internet search of the previous number and found out that my phone company (WOW Cable) does have a free service that you can block up to eleven numbers.  I did that a week ago, and ... finally silence, until today.  They have a new number (above) and I get the same robot call.  It is a scam to get you lower interest rates on your credit cards.  All they do is get your information and empty your bank accounts.  What has happened to our government that they haven't figured out yet how to catch these crooks.  BE CAREFUL.  When I talk to a person and ask them to stop, they immediately hang up on me.  Find out if your telephone service provider allows you to block phone numbers.  I'm tired of it all.

Its not going to stop for two reasons.

    1) It is a bogus operation that is not intimidated by the law.

    2) The DNCR is not mean to act as a call blocker.

I thought that if you turned a company/number/person into the "Do Not Call" registry, that someone, somewhere within the government (since it was a government-created service) would make them stop or fine them $$$.  Wasn't that what I read?  I wasn't expecting them to block the number, just arrest them all or something, how silly of me, I guess.  Really, what is the point then of the DNC list?  Are they so stupid to think that if they call me every day for like forever, I would finally cave in and give them all my personal information so they could take all my money?  I think this crap is just making me crazy.  MidNYteStorm, did you get them to stop?

I wonder if they think there is a magic number that I can't block? Too funny! The only way to beat them is to block them. Like others have mentioned the DNC list is useless against the crooks.

They use spoofed numbers and change a lot. Its hard to track them down. They have caught some of them, but not all of them. This is where you need to practice self defense though and call block. Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. I only say that because there are those that seem to think the FTC will actually block the calls.

Reporting them, such as to the FTC ( https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1 ) is certainly the right thing to do, but how many times have we done this and how many calls do we still get?  Treating these calls as free entertainment may be an effective strategy as it can be free entertainment to us and punishment to the callers.  Fight scammers with laughter!  Purchasing a call blocker that blocks names and not just numbers can give us peace of mind but I would rather use a piece of my mind to create laughter. Do we want the callers to be worse off after the call than before the call? Do we want these calls to be rewarding to the callers, or would we rather want these calls to be punishment to them? Please waste the callers' time and laugh. Every time I do it I feel I have done something good for those who are too old or too ill to deal with these scammers. Please to not allow these calls to drive us crazy or damage our mental health.  Thank you.

I wish people realized that bogus operations do not allow the law to stop them.

Some recorded spam about hip replacement insurance was already playing when I answered it. First call ever from this # today, and also the last. Cheers to viatalk.com for making blocking so easy! 1/10/15.

    Old Grouch
I seriously doubt these scammers are anywhere near "Corpus Chris TX", just spoofing that number to evade call blocking. They call me regularly from many numbers, some from places too small to employ anyone. Usual "Lower interest rate" scam, and I expect the next call will have the "Consumer Svcs" ID. For a while.
The DNC list is really voluntary (it is the law, but that doesn't mean much these days) Legitimate companies abide by it, scammers do not. So if you are on the list, and get a call, you can assume fraud at work.
Since this is likely VoIP, from somehere else (perhaps outside the country) the FTC/FCC can't do much about it. Alas, as my rinky-dink phone company does NOT provide any blocking service, and I'm to cheap to buy a new phone, not much I can do.

I know what you mean because in a lot of the posts, people are asking "How do I get the calls to stop?" In 2012 I was at that point of being totally annoyed with the scam calls and the election calls so I researched what I could do to stop this nightmare and I was ready to purchase a good phone call blocker when I came across a post where a person mentioned a computer program called Phone Tray Free. After reading the requirements for this program, I found I already had everything I needed which was an old Windows 98 era computer and a phone modem. I put the old computer next to my newer desktop computer and hooked them up with a KVM switch so I could use the same Keyboard, Video, and Monitor with both computers. The newer computer is connected to the internet and gets turned off when I am not using it. The old computer is hooked to the phone line through the phone modem and stays on 24/7 and logs, blocks or lets numbers I choose to pass to the phone. I realize that this setup is not for everyone, but it helps me keep my sanity and it brings the control of my phone back to me.

To be honest I used to allow the calls to get to me. Then I realized getting angry was not worth it. So I learned to find the humor in the calls.

Humor is the best medicine. Anger or complaining does not get much accomplished. After blocking numbers for over two years, I find I am getting  less scam calls. On the days that I don't receive any calls I have caught myself checking the phone to make sure it was still working. I somehow find that humorous.
