Someone speaking with a heavy foreign accent in a very busy call center.  I didn't give them a chance to give me their pitch.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

These folks called and left 30-40 seconds of dead air on my voice mail. I could hear a lot of call center "boiler room" chatter going on in the background, and then they hung up.

Cold call from man with thick accent. There were pockets of silence when I answered, indicating some type of robo-dial. No thanks.

Go to federal trade commission online then consumer complaints and file, takes no time at all..being on a do not call list doesnt do it..

The Do Not Call list is a joke blissfully ignored by telemarketers and scammers. Calls go through complex computer paths that can't be traced.  Many come from off-shore and you can bet they don't give a sh** about the DNC list.

They must be getting action somewhere or they wouldn't be in business which means there are dumba$$es out there who answer and get scammed.

I check caller id and don't answer if I don't know who is calling.  Eventually they will go away only to return months or even years later.

The solution is educating people not to answer or not to get involved.  Only then will they pack up their calling stations and go away.

They are Federal Financial. see also notes for 385-229-3005. We have a home/business phone and they just called 4 times in 15 minutes. That's ridiculous!! I didn't answer, but I have to go to the phone and look at the id every time. I reported them to the FCC at

They are just one of many very annoying "junk" calls we receive and the FCC needs to put a stop to it.

This number calls my home business 12-14 times a day.  I never answered until today.  Heavy foreign accent and wouldn't stop talking.  I finally yelled "STOP!".  She did and I told her to take my number off the company's computer call list.  Registered on the Do Not Call list today and will wait my 31 days to file my complaint.

Claimed to be federal financial.  Said my business was selected to win a free scratcher if I qualified.  Said they were not selling anything.  I hung up after a few minutes into her speech.

I always tell them that the"ll have to talk to the main office. I give them the phone number of the Ambulance chasers [ lawyers]  that advertise on the T V. For some strange reason, I never hear from them again.
