Received a text message on my cell phone informing me that I qualified for a $1000 Gift Card to Walmart and to visit http://GIFTCARD2.COM to claim my prize.

My Cell Phone is on national do not call registry, as well as Texas do not call registry, and I don't subscribe to a text message plan. I seldom use text messages and prefer to pay per message.

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number,  or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Recieved the same msg on my cell and it is tied to walmart or my # was retrieved from walmart. I was dumb enough to try an do one of those surveys that are on the walmart sales reciept and bingo I start getting calls from all types of telemarketers. That is the only way that my # could have gotten out there. Oh well to late now. I learn something new every day.

  Now the WalMart Scam Artists are using the telephone #  740-331-9808. The text message now reads: Congratulations! You've been choosen to recieve a $1,000 Wal-Mart Gift Card! Use Approval Code: Giveme. Notice the words chosen and receive.  I should have realized it was a scam, but at first glance the $1,000 is the only part that really catches the eye of a struggling single mother! Shame on you for sending this to people, especially during the economic times we are having!

I am also on the Do-Not-Call List. Obviously that does not matter to these people!

I also recived a message saying congatulations youve been chosen to revieve a 1.0000 wal-mart card and to use approvel code give me. im glad this showed me on this webb site how cruell some people can be as i am disabled and on a fixed income and ty so now i know not to respond to it.

My Husband and I both recieved the same message!  However, the phone number was
848/702-0522.

Recieved the same message, only the phone # was 251.253.2246.  Did a reverse phone look up.  Country of the phone # says Escambia.  Hmmm  eSCAMbia?  I am also on a do not call registry.  I do not subscribe to any text messaging plan.  Obviously a scam... what to do?

Mine is also from walmart. 609-742-9162. And one from Target/Walmart 361-510-7347. Isnt there a way to report it as a scam? BBB is alot of crap to go through. I get these flippen text all through the night. I wish i could wake their fat ----- up!
