- Aaron Davis| 1 replyThis phone# called at 6am here in WAshington state on 8/31 - probably from out of the country. I picked up then hung up so it would not wake my wife. I HATE these people calling to "fix" your computer. I always tell them off and hang up.

- SRJust got a call from this number.
I picked up, said "Hello?" a couple of times, was about to disconnect, when a guy who sounded like he was from India said that there were reports from my computer that my Windows O/S was having problems, & he was responding to help.
I informed him that I use a Mac.
His reply -: "THEN WHY ARE YOU WASTING MY TIME?"
Funny stuff, indeed. BLOCK. - Gina| 1 replyThis guy with a heavy accent called and said that my computer with Window OS picked up some malicious files. He claimed that he was from Microsoft and was going to fix my computer if I follow his directions. By following his directions, he claimed, I will find those malicious files on my PC. To make the long story short, he could not answer my questions about what type of computer I have or which Window OS I use. Although, he claimed that when I purchased my computer, it was registered with Microsoft and therefore he is contacting me over the phone, because Microsoft received information that my Windows OS picked up some malicious files from the Internet.
- Caller: Microsoft Corp
- anonymous replies to GinaTHIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.
- TexasNDN replies to Treetops| 3 repliesHi Treetops. I got the same call this afternoon with NelNet on caller ID. There was a foreign man on there and he started saying something about my computer. When I told him I wasn't interested, he got totally CRAZY ! He siad he was already IN my computer & he was in my house behind me. HA ! I told him he'd be in deep trouble if that was true. In Texas we have our own way to take care of things like that. I did call the company NelNet and told them someone was using their business name making the calls.
- grayfoxplease do not call me anymore, we are on the DO NOT CALL list. if you don't want verbal abuse , refrain from calling

They said the company they worked for was something like ' Micro PC'' or similar. I told them I did not have a computer. - merry BoberryThis evening I received the call supposably from Nelnet stating that my computer was sending out error messages. When I asked the VERY foreign speaking guy he repeated himself 3 times like I was the dumby. I told him he was full of it and he started yelling at me in a foreign language. I reminded him that this was the United States and to talk English. I followed up with a call to the actual Nelnet company and reported the incident. They are not affiliated in any way with this scam and do not use foreign servers. The number 402_875_9195 can not be called it is for out going calls only.

1. Nelnet is in fact a valid company - they service student loans backed by the federal government. I will be reporting this scam to them just so they know their name is being used.
2. As I type the guy is still blabbering on trying to get me to give him critical information. Wish you could hear him.
3. Oh...he insulted my mother. I told him a big fat steak is waiting in my freezer for dinner.
