Who are these people? They call constantly?

I don't know who they are.  I got a call from them too.  My caller ID says "Safety Services."  All I could find is that it is a land line provided by Qwest out of Omaha, NE.

Just called me... then hung up. I called back and it rang and rang. I am sick of phone bots. Same thing. caller id: Safety Service, 402-896-1815

safety services is a legitimate call and not a solicitation. however the calls you describe indicate a use of an auto dial system. maybe there are problems with the equipment they are using or interfacing with the phone company

This phone number is used by Safety Services, which uses an automated caller.  Their main phone number is (402) 895-2984.  I discovered that if you call this number, you can ask to be taking off their calling list.

They just told me they were Nebraska Sheriff's Assocition

I had a gentleman call me from saftey services at 4028961815 and they asked for my husband I said he was at work and started to say This is his wife how may I help you and he talked over me and said THANK-YOU and hung up HOW RUDE. So I called back and it rang and rang then I looked up the number and found this site with the main line 14028952984 so I called it and let the gentleman know what just happened and he said he was going to do a records search and find out who called and write them up because they are breaking procedure. LOL if you dont like the job dont do it, plus they are trying to get donations for the sheriff department they shouldnt be so rude if they want donations.

We've gotten multiple calls with the same result; a few seconds of sound from the other line, then immediately they hang up.

you people all act like you just are so upset you get calls, these guys called me for the sheriffs and i got their packet in the mail and it all checked out. I even googled the association before i returned my check made out to the sheriffs sent in to omaha. my question is: if they cant call you, and you dont know about the sheriffs, how the hell are you supposed to know they need money for their efforts? carrier pigeons, or maybe they should send mail out without talking to you and just hope you send it back? I dont like telemarketers either, but if it saves lives which this group does and locally at that, i can put up with a few extra calls on my caller id and you should too. In fact you people should all think about what the right thing to do is. They may use an auto dialer and drop calls, they may even be a little pushy, but if you scraped someone elses drunk kid off the asphalt after a unsupervised post prom party where minors were drinking, maybe you would realize their work actually does a world of good for this godforsaken state.  I hope you realize how rude you people can be too, and im sure it makes them sick how much people in this state are rude and condescending just because you called them. Grow up, answer your phone( unidentified or not) and find out if their local. Punish those who are scammers, not legitimate local groups. nobody cares about nebraska except nebraskans, so are you a real nebraskan, or a whiny wuss who is scared of the phone? I told you i sent a check, they asked me for 12 dollars, I sent them 112 to make up for [***] like you. Maybe my donation will save your drunk teen.

People aren't upset because it is the sheriff's association, people are upset because a majority of the time, no one is on the other end for them to find out it is the sheriff's association. My house phone gets anywhere form 2-6 calls a day from this number and only once have I gotten to talk to a person, who I politely told that we could not donate this yeat unfortunately. This isn't a matter of a few dropped calls here and there, this is a matter of a few dropped calls every day for the past 5 months for me. I just got a hang-up call from them a few minutes ago and called the main line and told them what was going on. Safety Services calls on behalf of a bunch of different law enforcement groups for donations. Apparently, it is a automated dialer used through the phone company (Qwest) and the dialer program is having issues and is dialing many, many numbers much more than it should be. Qwest is dragging their heels in finding the problem because it means they won't be reeling in the big bucks for all the phone calls. And before you go accusing me of blaming it on another company, I have a family member that works for Qwest and he confirmed that they know about the issue and it is indeed a phone company issue. And the law enforcement officers aren't the ones doing the scraping, by the way, it's the EMT's like me and my brother who are doing the scraping, thank you very much. And, I have a question, are you saying it's law enforcements responsibility to supervise post prom parties and the like? Sounds like the problem lies with parents, maybe you should be donating your money to programs that educate parents on how to deal with their kids and alcohol and drugs if drunk teens is your major concern. Last time I checked, it wasn't a cop's responsibility to keep kids from drinking.

This same "Safety Services" has been calling us since 2004 (after I foolishly gave to a police charity one time), and I've had repeated run-ins with them, trying to get them to stop calling (sometimes multiple times a day), but they persist, obnoxiously, year after year.  I complained to the FCC once, but was told that since the various "law enforcement" charities the so-called "safety services" call for are considered 'non-profit', they have no obligation to respect the do-not-call list or people's requests to be left alone.  I called "Safety Services" and quizzed a man who answered, who was extremely rude, and would not tell me any information about what they are about.  He did mention that they were in Omaha, and that he had 27 guys working for him, so couldn't know who was calling me (what????!)  He called me "buddy", they way an angry cop might to a criminal.  What a black eye these so-called charities give to law enforcement!

It's not about the first call (I actually--foolishly, in hindsight--donated!), but about harassment that has persisted over years, in spite of originally polite requests (I've lost count long ago) to have my number removed from their lists.  I begin to suspect this company is something more sinister than a mere "law enforcement" charity, which is simply their front (and they have branches all over the country using the same name).  I've had a high-up state patrol administrator for the state of Nebraska (a friend of mine) tell me that most of the money doesn't even go for the charities, and that he's ashamed of the way these so-called charities operate.  He did NOT recommend giving my contributions to them!

Amen to this post.  It is bad enough for most people to be bothered to answer the phone, but I think of folks like my 89 year old stepfather who cripples to the phone every time to find these obnoxious scammers on the line.  This is just plain wrong!  Good for the people who called back and gave them a hard time as best they could.  There should be some sort of regulation to prevent this.  It is harrassment!  Thanks for an opportunity to vent.
