call on my Cell, left message about car warranty expiring soon.  Where did they get my cell number from, how can i get them to stop using up my minutes!

Just got a call from this number around 3 pm, March 20th, but didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number.  I have gotten several calls from unknown numbers lately, and they have been increasing in recent weeks.  I wonder if they are all connected?

I've gotten two calls today on my cell phone from 402-982-0671. I don't recognize the number, so I haven't picked up. They didn't leave a message either time. I've had this phone number for several years; this has NEVER happened to me before, as my cell is used strictly for family and emergencies. Dang, this stuff makes me crazy. Someone needs to understand that there are people in this country who do NOT purchase anything from telephone solicitors. I'm one of them.

Just received a call from this number... its 2.07 PST on March 20th, 2009. Never seen the number before, don't understand where they got my cell number from. Pretty irritating.

Called warning me that my "car warranty was about to expire." My car is ten years old, and has been out of warranty for quite some time now. Total scam.

Same call from 402-982-0671 so wierd i tried to call back n got a message machine lady saying some bs about pressing 1 if you want to be placed on their do not call list...they called me @2:30p.m. im wondering if they got my number somehow through criagslist? i duno

Repeated calls.  Never leave a message.

Call from this number at 11:15 AM, March 21st (today)..  didn't pick up when it rang because I didn't know the number.  The rest of you people reporting made me feel more at ease, so i'm reporting that i got a call and I'm all the way in PA and it must be some big scheme.  No message btw..

I wonder if everyone they call are AT&T numbers.

I got the call from the same number, no msg, when I called back it said to press one to be added to the do not call list.  I am an AT&T customer as well.  unsure how they got my number.

Call yesterday (Mar 20) at about thesame time as other reports on this number. Ah, IP phones. No message, callback yields press 1 to be on do not call list, etc. Somebody got an AT&T list, methinks.

One of the ‘hottest’ scams in the telemarketing industry these days involves companies that sell Auto-Warranties. It’s usually a robo-call. The recording starts with: “This is your final notice! The warranty on your car is about to expire…” Of course, the caller has no idea whether you even have a car, not to mention its warranty. After the recording is played you are connected to a live operator who often refuses to send anything in the mail until you make your first payment. The experienced salesman will use high-pressure tactics rushing you into making a payment.

Victims, who fell for the scam and “extended their warranties” report that the companies often fail to send any paperwork and routinely deny policy payments.

Tracing the calls to the companies is difficult. The calls often come from telemarketing centers located overseas. Also, the companies often spoof their caller ID information to display someone’s else’s real number. When people receive these calls they dial the number they see on Caller ID and leave angry messages for an unsuspecting victim. Two-three days later the telemarketers change the Caller ID number and the scam continues.

March 21. Got a call from this number... didn't recognize. Let it go to voice mail. Get calls almost weekly from someone in Kentucky or somewhere trying to sell me transmission insurance I live in NY and haven't had a car for 25 years.

I got a call from this number also. I mean seriously im 13 years old.

I got a call from this # today..March 23, 2009.  9:18 AM.  I didn't answer but immediately googled and was brought to this site.   I have verizon service.   I am glad I read these posts and will program this as do not answer!

My daughter gets at least 3 calls from this and other numbers for auto warranties *daily*! She's not even old enough to drive.
