Shaw trying to sell their internet services (I assume to current Shaw cable customers)

I live in Los Angeles with a los Angeles area code.  I'm not sure why they called me and I haven't given this number out to anyone but family and very close friends.

I received a call that came from 403.716.6000 and asked me to call them back at 403.539.6849   or at 1.866.244.4112. The message was cut off at the start but later said to call to avoid disruption of service. I haven't called it back and will not as I believe this to be a scam call or unsolicited.

Its Shaw Cable trying to collect on money you owe them.

I don't owe Shaw any money...yet when they called (from that #) they just hung up when I answered..??

I got a call from 403-716-6000 claiming it was shaw cable and that I should change my shaw.ca password because someone was trying to hack my account? They then gave me a direct line to call - 1-85-306-1440 for further help? Can you verify if this is legit?

The number is the actual local Calgary number for Shaw Cable. Left a voicemail explaining that they're calling customers to make sure they are ready for the changeover to all-digital broadcasts on Shaw in the near future which will render old cable boxes obsolete. This is a legitimate thing - Shaw customers in Saskatoon lost access to most of their channels a few weeks ago if they didn't upgrade to the new boxes. If you aren't in southern Alberta  and you got the call, or you aren't a Shaw customer, you should contact Shaw Cable in your area (it'll be in the yellow pages or the Shaw website) and let them know. Otherwise, this one appears to be legit and, as I'm a Shaw customer, this is the type of call I would expect to get, which is why I'm not giving it a "Call Type" label.

Presumably you will have addressed this by now, but that is a legit Shaw number, so hopefully you contacted them. If in doubt, call the service number for Shaw that you should have anyway.

I received a bill which looked as though it was printed on an inkjet printer on very heavy printer.  I phoned (403) 716-6000 and it said the number is not in use.

I received a call from this number today...403-716-6000....Shaw Cable out of Calgary,Canada....I live in N.B....and have never had cable/internet through Shaw ever. I believe it may be a hoax/scam to retrieve personal info from people.

Why are you calling me? What's your purpose?

i reeived a call and they said they wanted to speak with the owner actually said his real name, from shaw
