Caller stated some one is bringing me to a civil court but did not explain

I just got a call myself.  The person on the other end is using old credit history information to try and scare you into paying him, not the credit card companies or whoever.  I read an article recently about new collection agencies popping up trying to intimidate people by bringing up old unsettled debts that in most cases have already been charged off by the creditors.  They can get old credit card histories through public records, which in some cases have been settled or charged off but they use language about 'judgements' and 'civil court' but the [***] wouldn't say what court, when, at what time, etc so that was my first red flag.


If you press the person for more details, they say they just work here and we're a third party, we don't know all the details about your case, etc.

They also try and trick you with the 'I've verified your identity' but they don't say they are recording the conversation so it's totally not valid in court.

So it's [***].  If anyone was going to come after you for money you owed, you would get something in writing.

The number 404 287 0204 comes up as "Reggie White"

Caller indicated that the sheriff was going to stop by from a neighboring county.  They even referenced a docket #. They were looking for my ex-wife's third husband who I don't even know.  The message sounds legit but don't fall for it.  I frequently get messages from collection agencies looking for this guy.

Rec'd a call for a family member about 10 minutes ago.  Some knucklehead stumbled over his "name"--Special Investigator Edward Loomis--and said some such garbage about charges filed against my family member.

WTF??

Just got a call from these people.  They were looking for someone I know from high school who I haven't seen in years. Neither of us live in our hometown and he lives out of state I think.  In the last year I've moved and gotten married.  I can't imagine that how they would connect my new number and name to someone I haven't talked to in so long.  Very strange..

Received a call 2 days in a row that we had 48 hours to responde or the county would be filing a civil case.  Then the call said 24 hours to repond. It was a lady who called and repeated the civil action and gave a docket number.   We were asked to call back 404-287-0204 and this number belongs to a resident, not a business.  The red flag came up for me when I never received anything in the mail, only this hurrasing phone call.

Just received the same kind of call from 404 287 0204 at my old adress where I don't live for more than 10 years. The woman told me that I have an agreement with Circuit City in 2002, but I was in an other country at the time! She actually even complained about my accent! No information given, the sheriff is supposed to come within 48 hours to deliver a court supina. It's a prank.

Just got the same kind of phone call from this same number...sounds intimidating.....but after reading everyones posts...it is obvious that its [***]...perhaps we should all write individual letters to the attorney general in Geogia and report this SOB!Anyone has the address????

Got a call today saying they had an IRS Complaint.  When I asked for her name and IRS id she said they weren't from the IRS and to give her my name and case number.  When I asked who she was she called me an idiot.

She then called back and told me the police were on their way to arrest us.

Total scam and total fraud.

If you look at the satellite photograph of this property at Maps.Google.com or Maps.Live.com, it's pretty obvious that this is a residential address.

Whether or not this is a real debt collection company, they've broken the law in a big way -- impersonating law enforcement or government agents and threatening arrest, for starters.

EC, (above) you're one of the heros. Thanks!  I just got a call from a lifelong friend who I've roomed with (as in 'rent a bedroom' when I'm between houses) but NEVER have had comingled (sp?) finances of any sort.  The only thing I can surmise is that I must have listed him as an emergency contact YEARS ago and they tracked him down and left one of these artful pseudo-g-man sounding messages for ME.

He called me just now in a "what the hell have you DONE?" kind of tones.  Normal honest people never stop to think that the law-enforcement-sounding voice on the other end is actually an out and out criminal.

For the record, the message was from "Mrs. Scott" a "claims processor" and something about law enforcement.  (I didn't press him for details since he was still kind of rattled)

EC, (and everyone else) you got my curiosity up and I, too, looked at the sat pix.  See, I'm an Atlanta native and grew up not 20 minutes from this site.  It's a part of town that used to be pretty nice but now if you were to say you live there people would look at you as if you'd just robbed a liquor store.

My guess is that he's buying up really cheap commercial paper (likely way out of statutory collection reach) and then using these misdemeanor tactics in the hope that the cops in Atlanta are going to be too busy catching murderers and rapists... not knowing that there are also folks like us on the receiving who can go on IRC, ping a pal in Russia and have Reggie's credit card numbers and details on what he ate for lunch in about 15 minutes... not that we'd ever DO anything like that...  I mean, NOBODY ever uses gray-hat tactics to shut down an ongoing criminal enterprise, do they?

No. Never!!  LOL!

I received a call at 10:45 A.M. today, from some ?lady?, who identified herself as Mrs. Scott, then proceeded to tell me that my niece was in the "investigative" phase of some type of "legal" collection situation.  She was unable, however to identify her company, but did give me the call back #404-287-0204.  When I then inquired as to exactly what this was in reference to, she would not relay any further information, so I told her that when she read in the Atlanta Journal that Hell has frozen over--she could expect my niece to send her agency some money.   She hung up <;-)

That's hilarious!

By the way, you may want to let your niece know that these slimeballs broke federal debt collection law by disclosing to a third-party why there were looking for her. If your niece wants to, she could sue these dirtballs for fun and profit. She should check out some of the links that I listed above.

Wow I guess I can say me to. My wife received a call from this number at her mothers house. They stated that they were issuing a summons for her to appear in court if she did not contact them immediatly. Her mother called us and relayed the message. I called them because my wife was all upset. No answer got voicemail. Gave them my info and told them they could contact me. Sat. I received a phone call from Mrs. Scott. She stated that my wife owed Circuit City 1883.83. I knew that my wife really owed them 200.00 and it had been charged off 6 years ago. I played along for a while and told her I needed proof of this debt. She stated that if I didn't pay it immediatly we could get proof in court. I told her ggod luck and go to hell. She then said she expected this kind of answer from a stupid redneck and hung up. She then called again about 5 min. ago. Once again asked for my wife and I told her she was not available. Not knowing who I was she then stated my wife owed there client 1883.83 and if it was not paid immediatly there was going to be a warrant takin out for her arrest. I told her that circuit city will be contacted about this and she stated that circuit city "did not give a $hit about her" and she would have to pay ISA to deal with this matter not circuit city. I told her that was fine please issue a warrant and I will finish filing my complaint with the state. At that point she hung up. What a joke I have half the mind to ride down 15 min from my house to this address and show them what this "REDNECK" looks like in person.

So what DID the [***] have for lunch??? Did he bring me any??? You know, it's federal offense to fail to offer French fries to someone whom you're attempting to scam.
