Another number from Portfolio Recovery

I guess they thought that they would try another number to fool us. Well they must not look at these pages. SUCKERS!!!! They can kiss my big fat a**!!!!!

The same person has called from a 678 area code. What they don't know is that I don't answer my phone to anyone that is not in my phone book unless I am expecting a call.

Called twice today. I didn't know the number so didn't answer it. I always check here for numbers I don't know. I will add it to my contact folder labeled "Jerks".  That folder ringtone is set to silent.

They take old collections that are past the statute of limitations.

Got this call at dinner time. Based on other posts on here, it was the scumbags portfolio recovery. I didn't answer. I guess they thought they would try and fool me to answer by using yet another phone number. They are trying to collect from an old debt that was written off. Apparently they purchased it for pennies on the dollar and have the audacity to think that I owe them money. They are scum and the can kiss my ass!

We never answer phone numbers we don't recognize or to eliminate the constant ringing we will answer and hang up immediately. Apparently Portfolio has started using a bunch of numbers from all over the country. They use to use one number and the ID showed them being Portfolio Recovery. I know I have no outstanding debts and my three credit reports are clean but I refuse to talk to these idiots as they will do anything, from what I understand, to trap you onto paying even if its not your old written off debt. As someone indicated they buy old written off debt for pennies on the dollar then try to collect even if the originator has written it off and taken the tax write off.

This Portfolio Recovery (whoever they are) can't be too professional if they call telephone numbers, leave no messages, and expect return calls. Also, like others here, I answer my phone only under three circumstances:
1. I know the phone number
2. I am expecting a return call
3. A message is left which includes a name, phone number, and the purpose of the call
I also NEVER answer blocked, private, unknown or similar type calls

They called at 8:30 A.M.  I didn't answer but I called back and yelled at them.  I don't have a debt and they had the nerve to asl me for my ss and account no,  I said no I don't have an account.    She told me to stop yelling and I said I would report them if they called again and to tell all the other nos, that they have to stop calling aslo.  I will report them if they call again.

Wow! In four years, I think this is the very first time Portfoolio Recovery experts has called from this particular number. More than two and a half years ago, these vermin were obliged by the attorney general's office to write me a letter. In  it, their lawyer Pearson declared they had "decided to cease collection efforts." This is call # 321 since the pathetic bottom-feeding pond scum "decided" to quit pestering us.I hope they call forever. One of these days, Portfoolio, we may just pick up the phone, and Poof!  -- magic!  -- agree that we really ought to send a generous check to support your recovery facility. Keep callin', boys n' girls.

They call my work number several times a day, any and every day of the week, at all times of day, from several different numbers.  I have never, ever answered. I don't waste my time picking up, hanging up, yelling, asking for Pearson, or trying to talk sense into an idiot. Who needs the aggravation? If you know it's them, either block them or don't answer. Don't waste your time on these trolls.

You can yell at them and curse them out. They stop for awhile and it's starts all over again. They keep asking for someone who hasn't lived here in 10 years. I tried being nice and explained to them the person they are looking for hasn't lived here in years. I even gave them a possible number they could find them at. They don't listen or care, they just keep calling. I would like to find their main office and and sue the living daylights out of them for emotional distress. If anyone finds out where they are located, put up a post.

Jake, Portfoolio is located in Norfolk Virginia, and you can find their address by searching for "Portfolio Recovery Associates" on the internet. They had some kind of agreement with the Postal service that, since they get so many registered/certified letters every day, and the postman did not want to wait while somebody signed them all, they could get away with "promising, on their honor" to return the receipts. However, since they have no honor, they often do not return the receipts. Never mind  -- the USPS has a data base, and they will confirm for you that the letter was delivered, and will give you a slip to confirm.

I just got another call today. They are and have been looking for someone that no longer lives at this address. I read on another call website, that this crap company uses 47 different call numbers. However, this one today and yesterday actually used a "Portfolio Recovery ID.  Wow, are they slipping up from "unknown name, unknown number....like we are more like to answer the phones?
Dudes and Dudettes, they can not leave a message, when the phone number they are calling is listed to another person. It is a violation of the privacy laws extended in the credit laws. They have been successfully sued.
To them I say "Party on....because no one at our home will pick up the phone. Also, we are going to total cell phone access.....Internet through our dish....."Dorothy, this does not look like Kansas...people are smarter than we are" LOL ...Hey Portfolio People, we know you read our messages, and so do the Secretary of States, in most states, because they hold the keys to the violations of the credit laws....which is why you can not longer leave your snotty,threatening messages...Peace!

PRA bottom-feeders use at least three times 47 different numbers. I think they all originate at their little shop in Norfolk VA.

Years ago, we got a letter or two from these vermin, not signed, just a dunning letter on letterhead, proclaiming somebody owed them thousands of dollars, but they would be happy if that someone would send them only a portion of the amount they claimed they were owed. Of course, they paid about $60 for a written off debt, and then whined that they were owed $5000.00, so the amount they were "willing" to settle for was many multiples of that original cost.

Both dunning letters they sent showed a particular account number, but these vermin are so vile, they apparently have "secret" account numbers they hold in reserve. The attorney general office sent me a letter they had written claiming two different accounts, one of which had never been revealed to the person they were dunning. Maybe that's done so that if you get a cease and desist action on the account you know they have been claiming, they can turn around and start harassing you on the "secret" 2nd account?

Anyway, the dopey lawyer, Pearson, asserted in his letter that PRA had "decided to cease collection efforts." He also wrote that the debt was *not verifiable.* That was first week of September, 2010. This call is #334 since then. These jerks are pathetic. May they amuse themselves to death, and then rest in peace.

PORTFOLIO can kiss my [***] and the Credit Car company that robbed me blind. I bought a car that was worth $14,000 (if not less) and I paid on it for over 5 years so I estimate that Ive paid them about $40,000 for that car and they repo'd it right when I had about $4,000 left to pay on it. I was going thru hard times like everyone else was in this [***] up economy. They took it sold it for $1500 and now they trying to get the remaining balance of $2500 they didn't get by selling it. So again [***] them and I hope MMCCA get a Class action lawsuit against them, I will be the first to sign up!!!!

Called on a Saturday morning, Memorial Day Weekend. Have a barbecue, go to the beach, it is NOT your work day! Don't bother me either.

For a long while I was getting daily calls from every one of PR's 47 numbers! I think I've found a way to slow them down to a call every two weeks or so. After the third ring I pick up the phone and rapidly and repeatedly punch in 9999999999999 - sounds like a busy signal. Not sure if this really works but something has.

Got a  call  from them on my cell phone  for  gosh sakes.   They have never been given that number    and   called me  for  days on my  phone number  with different numbers     but    I have  been written off   by the vendor  several times   so  this was an  old  debt   and  to be honest    I had paid  them  several times through a  debt consolidation company years ago.    I  refuse to answer  my phone      when I dont know who the number  is from or for.       Its been a struggle     and  dont need them   still bugging me especially on my cell phone

Too bad everyone knows all about Portfolio Recovery and their scheming ploys...HEE HAW
