Got a call not sure what it is for

This company is Peachtree law center. they are scamming for old debt. will call relatives, non relatives, etc. and give them false and misleading information and make threats against you, your family, your credit, for debt that isn't even yours or legit.

Keeps calling us and relatives with same last name.

Spent an hour harrassing my fiance' about 1300 dollars that he "owed" them.  We had never heard of them before and they wanted at least 200 dollars within the next hour or "extensive actions would be taken"

Gentleman called my mom trying to collect on an old $150 cc debt.  After he handed my mom off to the mgr who was going to work out a payment plan he proceeded to yell at her until she yelled back at him and he quieted down.  After saying she would see if she could pay $20 next month she hung up and immediatley got another phone call from some lawyer in New York who screamed at her as soon as she answered claiming she had a loan with Bank of America and he sent a court summons to her address and he needs to know what he is going to tell the judge and proceeded to threaten her with jail if she didn't respond to the payment requests.  What a load of crap this all is.  This is another good reason older parents need to contact their children immediatley when someone like this calls.  She would have begun making payments to these idiots without even knowing.

A gentleman called the house, very apologetic, saying he was looking for (name). It was my mother, and he said he needed to talk to her within the next two hours because  an "important legal decision needed to be made". My mom likes to move so she had three or four addresses that he said he sent letters to. He asked could I please contact my mother so that he could speak to her. After getting off the phone I started googling and found this page. I will definitely let my mom know to ignore these people. Thanks to everyone for posting their stories here.

The Peachtree Law Center called claiming they had an important legal matter that needed to be addressed by this afternoon. They were asking for my husbands ex-wife! I have no clue how the hell they got my number, but wished I would have read these reviews before I had talked to the guy!

I just got an email from a friend who worked with my husband in another state over 5 months ago stating that Peachtree Law had called him at work asking for me! I never even worked for that company! This should be illegal. It's as though they are just picking a name out of a hat and making them "The Victim of the day"!

Trauner, Cohen & Thomas, a Sandy Springs, Ga., collections firm that operated for more than 30 years, has dissolved amid a whirlpool of litigation from former clients claiming that the firm failed to file suits on their behalf and used funds for those suits to pay its own expenses.

The State Bar of Georgia's Web site shows that partner Robert Trauner has left for a solo practice, while Michael J. Cohen has relocated to the Peachtree Law Center in Atlanta, and former managing partner Russell S. Thomas is with the Creditors Law Group in Norcross, Ga.

The firm changed its name to Thomas & Cohen earlier this year, wrote Kim M. Jackson of Hawkins & Parnell, who is representing the firm in the Georgia cases, in an e-mail response to inquiries.

"At that time, Mr. Trauner was no longer affiliated with the firm," Jackson wrote. "The firm's operations are limited to winding up its affairs."

A telephone number on the Web site for Trauner, Cohen & Thomas, which is still online, is answered by an automatic message for Creditors Law Group and includes an extension for Thomas.

Jackson said the Web site is "outdated."

Trauner's legal woes began in July, when a suit filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia said NCO Financial Systems gave the firm more than $1.3 million to reimburse filing fees and other expenses relating to more than 15,000 lawsuits the firm was to handle on NCO's behalf. Instead, the suit says, Trauner Cohen used the money for its own operating expenses, and inflated its reimbursement requests beyond the costs of actual filing fees.

On Sept. 3, a suit was filed by Midland Credit Management in California's San Diego County Superior Court seeking $1.7 million plus interest, punitive damages, restitution and legal fees relating to "30 boxes of files for which Trauner had submitted requests for reimbursement for court costs for lawsuits that had never been filed," which were discovered during a May audit.

The suit, filed by Kirk A. Pasich of Los Angeles' Dickstein Shapiro, accuses Trauner Cohen of breach of contract, negligence, legal malpractice and fraud, among other charges, and notes that many of the non-filed suits have languished beyond the relevant statutes of limitations.

That case has since been transferred to federal court in California's Southern District.

And on Oct. 2, a suit filed in federal court in Nashville, Tenn., accuses the firm of defaulting on a 2006 loan of almost $1.5 million, and includes separate charges that an affiliated company, National Asset Recovery Inc., defaulted on a $249,084 loan made at the same time. Thomas is listed as NAR's chief executive officer on the Georgia secretary of state's Web site, while Cohen is listed as chief financial officer and secretary; both are named individually as co-defendants, as well.

The suit, filed in Tennessee's Middle District by Roger G. Jones and Austin L. McMullen of Nashville's Bradley Arant Boult Cummings on behalf of plaintiff ACF 2006 Corp., accuses the defendants of breach of contract and conversion and says the loans were secured by collateral including all of the accounts and intangibles belonging to the firm and collection agency.

In a new suit filed Sept. 18 in Fulton County Superior Court, Zenith Acquisition Corp. and Northstar Capital Acquisition claim the firm failed to pay $124,005 in court filing fees for the companies' collection actions, including $64,490 that plaintiffs say they had already paid the firm.

The new complaint also says an unspecified number of "bad checks Zenith had purchased" were turned over to the firm for collection, but "upon information and belief, the bad checks were never even loaded into [Trauner's] system."

Jackson, the Hawkins & Parnell partner representing the remnants of the Trauner firm, wrote in his e-mail, "The firm no longer does business with the parties to these lawsuits."

"The firm has cooperated fully with all of its clients and former clients, and continues to cooperate fully with them," he added.

As to Robert Trauner, he said, "Mr. Trauner had nothing to do with any of the issues raised in the lawsuits and is no longer associated with the firm."

Bryan Cave-Powell Goldstein partner W. Scott Sorrels, who filed the Fulton County suit on behalf of Zenith, said his client did not wish to comment.

Stephen E. Baskin, managing partner of Kilpatrick Stockton's Washington office, who is leading that firm's team for plaintiff NCO, earlier declined to comment on that case; and the attorneys for the plaintiffs in the California and Tennessee cases did not respond to requests for comment.

Another Hawkins attorney, K. Lynn Finateri Silbiger of the firm's Los Angeles office, is representing Trauner in the California case.

The man who called name is Vaughn Roberts.. RUDE RUDE RUDE...
No matter how many times I tried to explaine he had the wrong number
the man Was RUDE.. Well I decided after he hung up on me.. 2 can play your game.. So I called back asked for him and told him again he had the wrong people and was Rude and he got nasty again... Well I told him I would be looking up info on them and when I found this I again called and asked for the office manager and told her exactly what I thought of Mr Roberts... I explained the mix up and how he treated me and she "said" she would talk to him.. yadda yadda.... We will see...

Same thing calling relatives in different households calling me back saying it is very important call, family called sons cell at school and then he called me at work very disturbing, thought there was an emergency in family

Harassment call and threats, Atlanta Georgia Scamers who try to collect on debt already collected on by Insurance Companys to Federly Insured Lenders and Credit Card Underwriters.

It called "Double Dipping" and companys such as Peachtree Law Center which consists of devious and
dishonest personnel and staff walk the walk everyday.

They are sometimes catagorized as the scum of the earth.

I didn't call them back so what to do? I don't owe anything I know what I have for bills.

OMG this has been happening to me from these folks!  They called my OLD work number and get this--my college roommates mother. We've been out of college for almost 15 years!! I'm so glad I found this site because I had no idea what this was about.

I received a call from them yesterday, diffrent phone number 404-437-5699  they left me a 800 number and a file reference matter, said it was urgent.  I wont return the call.  I have a law suit on a diffrent matter, so if they are legit, they can talk to my attorney.

They continue to call even after being told that the person they are looking for has not lived here for 10 years. Byron Darden is the caller. He called twice in 5 minutes this morning.  I already spoke to him last week and told him to quit calling us.  He began yelling and hung up on me then. I am going out to purchase a whistle today and will take great pleasure in blowing it loudly in his ear!

I got a call from this number on my cell phone this morning.
The man was evasive.  He asked who I was, so I asked who he was.  He did not want to state his busisness, so I hung up.

I just got a call from this number, asking for my husband.  He said he needed to talk to him within the next two hours because an important legal financial decision was going to be made regarding a distant relative of my husbands. When I told him this particular relative was in prison, he asked how long he was in for and who handles his financial matters.  I said I didn't know and hung up.  Good luck trying to get anything out of this deadbeat!

I received a call from Peachtree Law Center as well pertaining to an alleged debt that is also NOT mine.  I spoke with Vaughn Rambert and also a "Mr." (I am using mr. loosely here) Darden.  Both of these individuals were EXTREMELY RUDE and dismissive when I advised them that I was not the alleged debtor and that they needed to remove my phone number and information from their database.  Both of these "gentlemen" hung up on me.  So I Googled Peachtree Law Center and found this blog.  I proceeded to call Michael Cohen (per the information in Alfalfa's entry above 5 Feb 2010).  At first, Mr. Cohen was not very interested in speaking with me until I told him that I was going to report him to the STATE BAR OF GEORGIA if I did not get immediate satisfaction.  As you might guess, his attitude changed a little.  He advised me that my number and information would be removed right away and that he would talk to Rambert and Darden about their social skills.  I really don't believe a word that he said, but if I EVER receive another call or correspondence of any sort, I will report Cohen to the BAR and see if I can sue their backsides!

EVERYONE WHO RECEIVES A CALL FROM PEACHTREE LAW CENTER THAT DOES NOT OWE A VALID DEBT SHOULD CALL MICHAEL COHEN AND ADVISE HIM TO CEASE AND DESIST OR HE WILL BE REPORTED TO THE STATE BAR OF GEORGIA AND/OR SUED!

First a lady was on the phone, then a man got on the phone, and was attempting to make me admit I owed money to a Credit Card Company, and I explained I had never had a credit card with this company.  He explained it was on my credit report, etc.  That he had done some very thorough investigation and they knew all about me.  That I had more than the ability to pay, I was receiving over $6000.00 per month from my exhusband.  Geesh!  I explained that I had been through some very extreme financical hardships and at this time did not have the ability to pay anything.  If he could send me something in writing or a cope of a statement showing me that I owed this amount, then possibly we might could work something out.  This man begun shouting and we were disconnected.  He immediately called back and threatened me, that I had one hour to call him back, or they would proceed with other actions, and that I might want to have my attorney call him.
