They have at last count 125 Numbers they call from!!! They call my CELL which I NEVER gave to any business, only friends and family...not connected to any debt company...They have called my CELL like 36 times from 4 different states in the last 33 approx days!!!  Sooo, if a collection agency calls your cell; Check NACA ONLINE for an attorney to SUE!!!! because; "Congress passed the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), 47 U.S.C. §227, to curtail the use of automated dialers and prerecorded messages to cell phones without the permission of the consumer." and "On May 11, 2012...Plaintiffs sued a debt collector attempting to collect a telephone bill from a third party. Plaintiffs sued Defendant for Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per telephone call and One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) per telephone call if willful. !!!! ....the 7th Circuit recognized that Plaintiffs are entitled to protection under the TCPA as they were the “called party” under the meaning of the TCPA.
ALSO, since there are free phone search companies ONLINE (I found 4) that can be accessed by anyone...that show clearly in the FREE AREA that a phone number is from a CELL...And if they PAY A SMALL MONTHLY FEE can see who the CELL Number belongs to...I'D CALL IT WILLFUL!!!! I'm giving that info to my Attorney! SUE THEM!!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M DOING!!!

Called business line,  I called back, said it was a collection agency, person on the phone whs rude and nasty.  I asked him not to call here as it was a business.  Who can I call/write/email to start a suit?

we received  a call from 404-695-6551.  it was Portfolio Recovery.  I called them and the lady i spoke with advised  me of the name of the person they were trying to contact. i told her that nosuch  person was associated with our phone number/address and insisted that the remove our number f rom their system.  She told me that our phone number was now deleted from their system and that no other Portfolio number would call as our number was deleted from all possible of their phone numbers.

well im trying to pay off a debt with them i got behind by a month and im planning to sent them 2 payments hopefully more in august to get a lil closer to paying off my debt ,,,,,if i dont know the number calling my house which i barely give out that number due to collections i don't answer my phone or if i do answer it you gotta lie i swear because then they get all rude and obnoxious Ive had my fill of bill collectors and so far they have to be the worst .and believe me Ive dealt with some real rude collectors ,,,,,,

Portfolio Recovery bottom-feeding pond scum vermin, calling from yet another number. Dumber than dirt, or they would not still be calling a phone that has never been picked up, not once! in over three years of calling. At least the Atty General forced them to use their company name in the caller ID. Some dopey lawyer who works for them  -- they hired him  just to deal with all the complaints coming in from atty. general offices all over the country  -- wrote me a letter saying they had "decided" to "cease collection efforts" on a totally unverified debt that is years and years past the statute of limitations as well. This call is call #214 since these dopes "decided" to "cease collection efforts" two and a half years ago.

Yeah, I've been getting calls from them but I just look at the name and number and mute my phone. Because I have a new phone number and most calls I do not know ask for a jack. and then agrue with me when I say this is my new number. So if I don't know the number I don't answer. Because what the one said about the general attorneys office is true. There is no sense in talking to them. good luck. signed lj.

Calling in regards to a credit card my husband had in college...1998!!! This isn't on his credit report any longer and they start calling 14 years later to collect what they say he didn't pay off?!?! That's a load of crap!!

I think a lot of their calls are on debt that they bought for pennies on a dollar from credit card companies BUT then after some time of  unsuccessfully collecting on the debt, they resold it to another debt collection company but still make calls in hopes of making some money.  Having been in sales...a lead is a lead forever.  Unfortunately, some people never 'trace' what happens to their debt.  some may be gullible enough to send these losers a few dollars while they may have in fact already settled the actual debt with the legimate owner of the debt 'note'.   The people making these calls are pathetic in their own right.  They are lied to and recruited with pie in the sky commission numbers that they will never achieve.
